Ty have a special container which is open on top. This is placed over the bomb then ty detonate so the blast is directed upwards. Even can use it to transport unexploded ordnance. If it explode, it just blow upwards into the sky. But must see what type of bomb lah. When we fire smoke motars, those unexploded we dump in a pit n set fire n small explosive charge to help them to explode. Hahaha. But the scary part is to tilt the mortar barrel to get the unexploded shell to slide out without u touching the pin in front. 120mm mortar damm siong. More than 50 years after their occupation still have to send our Singaporean Sons to risk their lives to kio their sai. The bomb still looks like in damm good condition fr a Jap war relic. Cost involved. $600 to engage Cisco mata to guard the bomb on site. $15k to engage the private bomb disposal team which includes Security escorts and a barge to Pulau Senang. The police said they received a call at about 1.24pm requesting for assistance at block 79 Marine Drive. It was established upon police arrival that a war relic — a hand grenade — had been found at the location. Construction worker Didar Hosen, 25, who found the relic while he was working, said he alerted his boss. His boss later called the police. The Singapore Armed Forces’ Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Explosives (CBRE) unit attended to the incident and CBRE officers safely removed the war relic from the location at about 5.35pm. They are Mills bombs, made in UK. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mills_bomb For the second pic, the precussion cap seems to be eroded and the safety is still intact. (Photo: Singapore Army) prevnext THUMBNAIL ENLARGE CAPTION SINGAPORE: A suspected war relic was found at a construction site in the western part of Singapore on Tuesday morning (July 29), the Singapore Army said on its Facebook page on Wednesday. The 86cm-long war relic was a 107mm calibre round that was fused and fired, according to the Facebook post. The Army added that the protective cap was missing and the striker head was exposed – making the round extremely dangerous to handle.
