WoeiSongKeh 5th Gear November 18, 2015 Share November 18, 2015 ya lor. That's why i ask how different is dashboard display consumption compared to average actual consumption (distance travelled over fuel pumped). For me the display is relatively close to actual consumption so far. still monitoring though. For my case it is off by 0.7, this is due to at start difference Must see few more mths to check How do you accurately determine how much petrol you have consumed to travel the mileage? For me i just auto fill and let it auto stop everytime. Take the mileage travelled during last top up (Must reset everytime when you top up) and divide by the total litres ↡ Advertisement

WoeiSongKeh 5th Gear November 19, 2015 Share November 19, 2015 Thanks. Do you pump petrol yourself or the pump assistant do for you? I don't know if they ever allow us to pump petrol ourself. Most of the time is I pump myself, just tell uncle I ownself pump (Used to pump ownself last time when I frequent JB in the past) If i need get stuff or use the Gents I will ask the attendant to pump for me and tell him : full tank and let it auto stop

WoeiSongKeh 5th Gear November 19, 2015 Share November 19, 2015 Thanks. Next time I will ask the uncle to show me how to pump. Hope they don't think I want to snatch their job and make them redundant. Just tell uncle you want to learn cause peak hrs usually too busy, think they will be more than happy to teach you as it help to ease their job. For the pump, there is a lever which you can shift it down and clip it to let it auto pump till it auto stop (when it detect its almost to the brim) Hope this helps
Yymail22 2nd Gear November 19, 2015 Share November 19, 2015 How do you accurately determine how much petrol you have consumed to travel the mileage? This is my method: Whenever the pointer is in line with either the full tank or 3/4 mark, I take down the mileage. The next time the pointer goes to the half-tank or 1/4 mark, take the mileage reading. If the capacity of your car's tank is 60 litres, every quarter move by the needle means 15 litres consumed. Now, take the difference between the two mileage readings and divide by 15 or 30 litres (depending where you take the second reading). This will give you a rough guide about the consumption pattern. Note: 1) the car has to be on horizontal ground, not on a slope, to be more accurate 2) when the needle points to full tank mark, it does not necessarily means tank is still 100% filled. 3) the consumption varies according to whether one drives mostly on streets or expressways Above method only aga-aga. Yymail22 2nd Gear November 19, 2015 Share November 19, 2015 For the smelly air con, I sending in in my car on a scheduled date, wasted another 3 days soon. All these in and out are wasting much of my time! For Fuel Consumption, highlighted before. Tuned but useless. Will send in soon. I don't own the new Altis but I used to own the old Corolla (last batch of made-in-Japan) till I scrapped it in 2013. There were two occasions when I had foul smell from the air-con: 1) a dead lizard in the duct 2) something like burnt smell. I can't recall how BM removed it (after 2-3 visits). It's probably due to something that was heated thus producing the smell. Air fresheners are not ideal. These are man-made chemicals. Smells terrific but I am not sure they are good to our body. Wind down the windows when driving off with air-cond on. Let fresh air come into the car. Shut the windows when you think you have air-ed enough of the interior. I put pandan leaves at the back of my car. Removes odour as well as giving fragrance. It's only about 30cts per bunch. Replace weekly.
Mijuku Neutral Newbie November 20, 2015 Share November 20, 2015 I also have poor FC, 80 city 20 hw getting 10-11... During 1k servicing, I asked bm why FC so jialet, they say cos Japan engine oil too thick. 1k servicing they'll replace with other engine oil.... Surprisingly my FC improved to 12-13 now

No lah...this method not accurate. The gauge is not so sensitive and it may be off by many litres. The best is to calibrate your ECU reading against the manual "km travelled / pump to stop ". Do it diligently for 5 tanks (or more to avg out pump variations) and compare each time to ECU info and note the difference. Avg out this difference over that many tanks...you have your offset,
Kklee 6th Gear November 20, 2015 Share November 20, 2015 I self pump at the same station, same pump number and about the same time - at least 50% of the time. I activate the latch for the nozzle to auto-stop. The disadvantage is that it takes a long time to refuel. The advantage is that when it auto-stop for full, the clicking sound is subtle and non-violent which has a sense of precision. I keep a record of total mileage(car), total mileage (tank), dash FC and number of litres pumped. After removing the not-so-precise data, the difference between the my actual FC (calculated) and FC on the dash is 0.5km/L The pump (nozzle) at the petrol station makes a difference. Some auto-stop mechanism can be quite "violent". P.S. Who knows, I may just buy a petrol tank and go test the pump's auto stop mechanism !
7hm Turbocharged November 20, 2015 Share November 20, 2015 Really?? I tot 11KM/L is decent...can't really say its bad.. would have been decent/good... years ago

Don't think the tank is designed in 4 equal quarters. Heard from a friend is that when you start off, gently increase pressure rather than just stepping on it helps a lot I noticed that after I accelerate, I let go a little then step slightly again the instant (the one with 10, 20, 30km/l gauge) consumption indicator seems to show better results? Heard from a friend is that when you start off, gently increase pressure rather than just stepping on it helps a lot yes, but pick up slower. ↡ Advertisement
