The air scoop is suppose to protect the driver's head but in this case it failed and Jules will have to brace the impact.

Really unfortunate for him to collide with the tractor... Think he would have been safer if he went into the barriers...

Commentators were asking why FIA did not reschedule or cancel the wet race... [thumbsdown]

IMMHO the race should have been brought forward instead of the forecasted rainstorm period... Don't think cancelling the race will be an option as there are many financial factors at stake...

unless the decision is made the day before and make announcement in all channels.

the decision could have been made after qualification?

if decided to start race early only on the race day and spectators who come based on the original timing, how?

.

.

whether race early or cancel the race could or could not avoid the accident - no one could ever predict it

super unlucky for jules to hit the tractor

if hit the barrier should be no problem ... just like sutil

I think they should have made the decision to bring the race forward even before qualifying or even before FP3... Actually I've read that the Japanese weather service forecasted a very wet race period as early as Thursday... Anyway doesn't really matter what any of us thinks because only what FIA thinks matters...

Oh well another heavy lesson for the FIA to learn... Hope not at the price of JB's injuries...

Turbocharged

The air scoop can only protect if the car flip upside down.

This case, the car is too low that it hit the lower part of the tracker where the driver's head is fully exposed.

As things stand, no news is good news.

Just hope that his family can pull themselves together and Jules can make a reasonably good recovery...

Especially hard on the team as well, considering its their home race coming up..
