My first time watching a WC match on home TV. Tuned in only at last 5 mins where the score was 7-0. What a surprising scoreline . . . . when was the last time this kind of score happened at this stage of the games?

The closest was in the quarter-finals of the European Championship 2000 where the Oranje army demolished Yugoslavia 6-1. But the Dutch were punctured in the next round which was the semi-finals where they lost out to Italy on penalties.

I think Brazil missed Thiago Silva more than Neymar. The defense was terrible, like open the gate let the robber come in freely. Totally no leadership at all. After concede 1st 2 goals, still daydreaming. In the game agst columbia, Brazil was criticized for being physical, in this game they like don't dare to foul the Germans. Totally wrong tactics employed. Pity all the brazilian fans. But I think this is good wake up call for them, their team is no longer superpower.

this is the most sensible comment ...

teams especially while loosing (somemore under immense pressure) do went into "blackouts" but it is crucial how fast they can re-group and re-strategise

if they can't came out from the blackout ... sure kena whacked mercilessly

Marques said Brazil switched off during a 10-minute period and were punished mercilessly for it. Teams often have these blackouts, he said, but rarely does one side's disastrous spell coincide exactly with their opponents' purple patch.

“I work with football and it is not uncommon to see players switch off during games. What is uncommon is a team like Brazil switching off during a game as big as the semi-final of the World Cup."

SINGAPORE - This morning's (9 July) World Cup semi-final has produced one of the most extraordinary results in World Cup history. The host Brazil lost to Germany in a bizarre scoreline 7-1, its biggest defeat in their World Cup campaigns.

The quality of the German team is "not normal", said Brazil's coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.

Despite the sorrowful atmosphere in Brazil, halfway around the globe, Singaporeans are smiling.

"The results are expected what!" remarked Singaporean Mr Lao Du Gui outside Cheng San Community Center which broadcasted the match live. He added, "You got see the anti-gambling commercial by zheng hu a not? That boy said his father show hand on Germany to win World Cup you know!"

"Since day 1, zheng hu already hint to us buy Germany! This kind of government always take care of Singaporeans where to find, you tell me?"

Despite the early hours of the morning, the small crowd outside the Community Center cheered and chanted "PAP! PAP! PAP!". Residents from nearby HDB blocks can be heard clapping in delight.

Cheng San Community Center falls within the boundaries of Ang Mo Kio GRC where Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is the anchor Minister.
