yup bro.test drove wish before. and if u r referring to the noise when driving, I realised that toyota cars tend to have this noisy feel. and yes.is most probably due to the engine and the chain running under the hood. those not-so-noisy cars are using belts and not chains. chains tend to be more lasting but on a noiser side.

if u really find it noisy now, then I believe u can't take the noise it makes after fews years.unless u have the intention to change within 3 years.

Bro thanks for the info , guess I shld not drive Toyota . Nola cannot afford to change after 3 years . Used to do that but I guess most of us now drive for at least 8 years LOL

no worries bro.but having said that, in terms of reliability, maintainance and fc, toyota is still part of the top notch to choose lah I feel.

Since bro watwheels mentioned it, are there bros who test drove 7 seater SUVs like me too?

If COE really drop... yes unlikely, but hope is free : )...anyone game to get Suv instead of MPV? Yes, different league etc etc, but same 5+2 consideration

I test drove and shortlisted:

1.Kia Sorento

2. Chevy Captiva

I liked the Sorento quite a bit, so if COE really drop, it will be Sorento vs Odyssey.

7 seater SUVs 3rd row is not designed for adult, if you really need 3rd row for adult forget suv,

and FC is another killer of suv driving in a small city country.

however if you don't mind FC, and insist 7 seater suv, Fortuner, Prado or Landcrusier deserve 7 seater suv instead of Captiva or Sorento

I understand is $ 135 and just the classics pkg . no upgrade to the higher pkg which I think require additional $ 4 k

so very close to Biante but wish is more spacious than M5 although only 1 row of aircon .

I guess is a combination of noise insulation and tires .They told me is becos of the CVT engine ?

aiyo of course they are different !

I understand that for Wish if u trade in your existing ride, Borneo will upgrade to guranteed package foc.

For MPV, it depends on who will be sitting on the third row and how often..

I am currently driving the Honda stream... the third row are good & spacious for my kids for now.. but put anyone who is above 1.7 m tall in the third row; I dun think tat person will want to be there for a long journey.. within Spore maybe still OK. Of cos how "Spacious" the third row is will depend on the positioning of the 2nd row. I only sat on third row while cleaning my car interior.. All I can say,, it is better for kids or adult below 1.7 m tall.

I had also sat on the third row of Wish during lunch out with colleagues, again the same explanation applied.. depends on the position of the 2nd row..

I had only sat on the previous Mazda 5 third row..but was years ago and it was a short ride.. so cant remember how comfortable or uncomfortable it was...

Cars that I had found the third row was comfortable for adults were the previous Honda Ody and the good old Toyota Picnic.

As for all the current MPV, forget about those conti like Renault, Peugeot 5008, Citroren Grand Picasso, Opel Zafira and VW touran, the rear seats are like seating on the floor. This is based on my "butt" test on show room model.. yet to try the ford s-max.. but someone had mentioned it is also meant for kids too.

I intend to get a replacement for my 6 yrs old Stream..

I had yet to try the Mazda 5... but find the audio console very very outdated.. some say the third row is cramp too.. have to do a "butt" test to see how bad it is..

the much talked abt Biante,,,hmmm.. guess if we want space in the car, very difficult to run away from a "boxy"design.. but I find the Biante 's steering wheel design quite "boring" and also lack of a moon/sun roof....

of cos if money is not the issue, Honda oddy, Ford Galaxy or VW Sharan will be in the list.. but paying 50% downpayment... which is probably in the region of 70k to 90k in CASH... a sum which is too big for a peasant like me....

just my 2cts worth of contribution on a cool Friday morning.

Actually why do you or some others who want a sunroof or panoramic roof in an MPV?

The glass roof is heavier dan the typical metal sheet roof especially there's a motor and moving mechanism where you could open the roof. It adds quite a lot of weight to the top. Although it's aesthetically nice to look at it makes the top part of the car heavier and this will affect the handling. You will feel like driving a sampan with the body roll going around bends and corners. And if you forget to pull up the shade under the hot sun....you know what is greenhouse effect? Your interior will be cooked. Not good if you have leather seats.

u do have a very very good point..

it is a nice to have...maybe not so practical in daytime Singapore... but for night driving..it may give a different experience for the passengers....

as for handling, I am not sure what will be the impact... most of the conti car have sunroof /panoramic roof.... and Europeans placed top priority on road handling...

Frankly, i love Trajet. and am thinking of getting one since last year. However, wifey totally don't like the gear changing stick and the fc.

but in terms of the comfort level, ie a full grown adult can sit comfortably in the last row, regardless of the position of the 2nd row and still have enough cargo space at the back :)

Supercharged

FYI. My current family car is a 2006 wish. Wish is very reliable for me and I do not have any problem throughout except for wear and tear parts. However, I am really sick with the tacky dashboard and outlook thus I booked a Renault grand scenic for replacement. I was considering between mazda 5 and scenic but eventually pen down on a scenic as I have a very good deal of freebie. for those mid size mpv, the prices are almost the same, only a few k different. scenic gave me a more secure feeling as it feels dam solid although resale value can be bad but who cares if I am driving till coe expire. maintenance wise I am given a 5yrs warranty and 5yrs servicing and many other things. it is worth considering. road tax for 1.5 diesel is the same as 2.0 petrol.
