A 67-year-old woman, who was hit by a bicycle wheel allegedly thrown by a teenage boy from the 14th floor of an HDB block of flats in Eunos Crescent, died in hospital last Friday night.

Madam Mahani Abdullah had undergone emergency spinal surgery at the Singapore General Hospital after the wheel hit her on the head on May 16.

Last Tuesday, while she was in a high dependency ward following the operation, her heart stopped. Doctors managed to resuscitate her, but she slipped into a coma.

After state prosecutors learnt that Madam Mahani's condition had worsened, the charge of a rash act against teenager Abdul Hamid Rahmat, 16, was amended to one of grievous hurt last Friday.

if it was my mum, i would grab the kid and skin him alive, apply a layer of honey and set the ants on him then bury him with my mother.

If I read correctly, the culprit is the same person who has thrown killer litter 5 times . . . . makes me wonder whether better action could hav been taken earlier?

On Saturday, a 16-year-old boy was charged in court with committing a rash act in relation to the incident, the latest in a recent series of "killer litter" cases.

He is believed to be the same teenager who was arrested last December after a brick hurled from his flat at the same block injured a passer-by.

The police have received reports of four "killer litter" cases at the Eunos Crescent address between June 22 and Dec 13 last year. Items thrown included bricks, a dumbbell and water dispenser.

Need to find out why this boy has that habit to throw things down the flat.

Mental problems, family problems or what? A normal teenager won't do such things....

I would think, let the SPF / MCYS conduct their investigations on the behaviour of the boy.

And we need to send stern warning / punishment that littering or highrise littering is a NO-NO !

We have lost a human life because of this, and it is a repeated event from the same boy.

We should not have allow this to happen again.

Where was the education convey to the boy and his parents after his first incident?

Anyway, a life is gone, and we can only pray that there would not be any such incident happen in the near future.

As a deterrent step to tell other potential similar killers , 2 options --

1. Throw him down just like how he threw things!!

2. Let 10 other bikes be thrown at him at ground floor from 10th storeys above.

Chickens are meant to be CALLED!!! All the rest that follow can't happen until the calling is done.

even if the culprit got his punishment, the injured person will not recover any soonest.

prevention can be taken by putting shelter along the walkway below the block, but this will cost a bomb.

best is to take care of yourself by avoiding such walkway even if it means a longer route. be safe than sorry.
