Yah try to restructure loan shouldn't be a problem but the main problem is he doesn't have a full time job.

 

he mentioned that his freelance job is drawing him $3000-$3800...........and a full time job only gets him $2000-$2200......meaning he must have quite fix projects to see that amount...........getting the banks to back off is current affair...............getting a full time job now is not going to tell the banks to stop gajiao him.........

 

It is more of the roll over in interest and not paying the principle sum that is killing him now...............

You have income tax submission right? Bank no see that? Free lancers are just like self-employed so if you have 2 years IRAS, they will normally be ok with loans.

My solution for you is to declare bankruptcy - as all parties ie banks will stay all legal actions vs you.

 

They cannot touch your HDB unless it is a bank loan. if it is you will be made homeless as they rank pari pasu ( first among equal like a first charge on property by the mortgagee)

 

The insolvency office will ask you to declare all assets and sieze any property or household item in the house except for the tools of your trade. Normally they will not seize anything in the household but as a matter of procedure will go through motion.

 

The court will arrange an instalment plan for you to repay- it can be 100 per month- after deducting all family expenditure.

 

The only problem is your wife will be declare bankruptcy which will lose her job in the stats board.

 

However no big deal given she earns about $1,800 which can be easily find another jobs pending on her skills and quailification.

 

Other than this route- the other alternative is to borrow from friend and kins- but i dont think it will help your situation as you need to increase your earning power in order to turn around your situation. Good luck- if you lucky 8 years is the fastest as to discharge bankruptcy or earlier if you choose to repay all loans.

you need to check as i am not sure, if not it will just be paying a large portion into bank interest.

Bro, there is no such thing as best solution, I am sure you are aware of it.

 

Coming here to ask for a loan of $50,000 at 5% interested rate is not going to get you any where.

 

If you can afford to pay $1600 a month for 3 years, at 5% interest, I am sure the banks will listen to you.

 

you said you need $50,000, I assume you have 10 loans of $5000 each, base on your earlier mentioned that your pay was $2200. At 3% min you need to pay $1500 each month, if you can make arrangement with banks to work out the same amount, it will also take you 36 months to settle with them.

 

banks want to see that you are sincere in repaying, that's all they are interested in. For them to issue you the writ, you must have avoided them for quite a while, face it bro, whatever it is, you have to face them even if you hated them for all the calls and letters. They have a job to do also, but you need to face them and provide them solutions, not run away from them.

 

Banks want their money back, you want to pay them so they don't come and disturb your life, how to meet halfway is how you want to settle with them, banks will consider any proposal, as long as you propose to pay them. The longer you avoid them the more it will cost you, take note that all those lawyer letters and writs, the costs are charge to you.
