Anyone still remember last year Malaysua increase in toll? Bus go strike, many complain, now all forgot and it became norm after awhile. Hwang79 5th Gear June 22, 2015 Share June 22, 2015 I don't what the debate was at the time - But I would imagine that the VEP is basically a "daily COE" - that would be the most logical and consistent explanation S'pore VEP is to control the no. of M'sia vehicles in S'pore. Without that, those thousands of motorcylists we see at the checkpoint every morning would be switching to M'sia cars and drive into S'pore to work. PRs will also be giving up their PR status and switch to Employment Pass and/or Work Permits so that they can drive M'sia cars around in S'pore. By the way, a Honda HR-V in M'sia costs around RM100K (SGD 37K), while a Honda Vezel in Spore costs around SGD 110K. On the other hand, there is absolutely no reason for M'sia to control the no of S'pore cars going into M'sia. The are plenty of roads and most of us are there to boost up their economy. Why do they want to discourage us to enter JB, M'sia?? The only explanation is Najib's administration is gg bankrupt soon. They are looking for whatever ways to 'ROB' money from whatever source the can. This is not new. Historically, in any era, any countries, any dynasties, once the ruler is running out of money (due to corruption, mismanagement of economy), they would impose crazy tax on people, traders, goods, etc.

He resides outside Singapore. He has a valid insurance certificate and road tax to use the vehicle on Singapore roads. The vehicle is kept or used outside Singapore for a total period of 6 hours or more every day. The vehicle has an Autopass Card to validate its entry/ exit at Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints and to pay for VEP/ toll charges.

But the cause of VEP implement in M,sia for this coming Aug, is actually dues to the Revision from $20/day to $35/day on Singapore side. If you still remember, M'sia side already proposed a few time in the past, but called off due to the strong opposition. Only by this incident, they eventually found an excuses to carry out without fear. This is actually is "an eye for an eye behavour" So this time for a round trip to JB is costing RM54.00 or SGD20.00. My advice to everyone here is making the trip up North whenever necessary. thks.

VEP is to make up for the difference on the cost of car between a Sp & Malaysian owned car using our busy roads during normal days. But VEP is not collected for Malaysian cars between 5pm -2am on weekdays, Sat, Sun & public holidays. In additional, 10 free VEP is given for normal days per calendar year. The increase from $20 to $35 is becos cost of Spore car has increased ridiculously these few year. Is the toll fee that bolehland govt holding back becos of d EDL built. Initially, toll was flat rm2.90 n they wanted to increase ano rm15 to be collected at their immigration whether using EDL or not. So, there was a strong protest by their motorist. They deferred but finally increased n revised with a in & out toll. Total rm16.50. The VEP of rm20 is a shock. No one knows what it for. Put it simply, bolehland needs money desperately like Greece. 😁😁

Mentri Besar Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the announcement will be made as soon as the Government decides on the rates. "When and where the announcement is going to be made is up to the Federal Government and not the state,'' he told reporters at the opening of the Exporters Forum 2014 organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation here yesterday. Last month, during his visit to Johor, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced that the Government had decided to implement VEP fee for all foreign vehicles entering Johor. He said the decision was made following a request by the state. Najib also assured that part of the collection would be channelled to the state government. The state government submitted a proposal in 2006 for the fee to be implemented at the Causeway and the Second Link but it was later scrapped. It had been pressing for the fee to be implemented, especially after Singapore announced that it was raising its VEP fee for foreign-registered cars to S$35 (RM89.53) a day from S$20 (RM51.16). The fee for foreign-registered goods vehicles also increased - from S$10 (RM25.26) to S$40 (RM101). - See more at: http://transport.asiaone.com/news/general/story/malaysia-ready-announce-entry-fee-rates-johor-checkpoint#sthash.2Txshl0k.dpuf Please read carefully the attached report, since 2006 Johor already eyeing for this piece of cake. So we are very lucky indeed they only implement now in 2015.
