Sounds very good, though the words "No major repairs" sounds a bit fishy as Ka-hup doesn't usually sell cars for such low depreciation. If you're checking it out do let us know :)

Both ATF and Engine oil leak.. But they have promised that they would fix it.

They have agreed to replace timing belt too since it is already 200k.

CD player and cabin light are not working at all. Of course, they have promised to fix it also.

Let's see when I see the car again tomorrow.

Customer service is still ok so far except that I have to call back and check everytime although they promised me to call me back everytime.

I made a mistake on the Road Tax Rebate, its $156.60 instead of $313...

Revised calculation :-

Current Paper Value = $6,112

Road Tax Rebate = $156.60

Current Cash Out = $6,268.60.

My view, $6500 should be more reasonable. Though not sure if there were any takers.

$6,500 - $6,286.60 = $213.40 for 3 months driving which works out to be $853.6 if you drive a full year.

I don't think you can find any car in the market which has an annual depreciation of $853.6

That's on the low side..

Nissan Sunny 1.6A Super Saloon (Blue)

Minimum PARF Benefit: Not Eligible

Original Registration Date: 02 Jun 2001

COE Expiry Date: 30 April 2019

Transfer Count: 4

Mileage: Around 280K

Asking Price: $32,000 (negotiable)

Well maintained by last owner who owned the car for last 3 years who is a car mechanic.

Major wear & tear parts replaced.

Cheap drive around $700/monthly

Please find own loan.

Plan to hand over next month.

PM me if interested. Viewing by appointment only. Northwest Area.

Lol, I really took a big gulp. This car mechanic can probably be a car dealer as well since he bought a new COE for 5k max and now wants to sell it for 32k. Make 6x on his initial COE cost and still got to drive the car for 6 years free. Add in PARF for 6 years and it should be around 1k+/year only.

Won't be surprised if people negotiate it down from 32k to 20k+... by 2019 this car will be close to 20 years and there's no knowing what might happen to the engine.

Do we use typical depreciation to calculate for car at this age ?

One will be lucky if we can get back paper value plus body.

I do agree with you but I am going to have to say that I disagree..

Let put it as we agree to disagree...

I don't see why I should be doing anyone a favor to sell the car for peanuts. I might as well just scrap the car or leave the car in the car park

Scrapping the car at this time would get me paper value + road tax rebate + $50 for body - > $6326.40

I would love to buy a car for $173.60 but I will loath to sell a car at $173.60.

I rather trade her 2500 than agree to an offer of 2k. Felt like asking him to go look for a QQ instead of a Bimmer.

I think the poster Tiger1 shares my feeling.. LOL

It is not about selling for peanuts.

You sell to dealer or scrap, you get $173 less.

You sell to another person, you get $173 more.

It is not like the person is giving you less than the scrap yard.

Some people are probably way richer and don't give a damn about the $173, but for me, that $173 can do many things...like pump a full tank.

Supersonic

For $173 I rather let it sit around I also song. Can also use it sometimes. Not worth the hassle to deal with someone to transfer the car.

Thank you, that is my point exactly.

I will love to buy a car for $173 but I will loath to sell a car for $173.

I rather send the car earlier to the scrap yard or just leave it in the car park.

Let not take this out of context.

My reason for posting here is hopefully to benefit someone who needs a car for whatever reason and hopefully benefit me with some additional cash.

While I don't think that I will sell the car for $173, I have made up my mind that if anyone offer me $6,750. I will take the effort to go LTA and transfer the car to the buyer on the nearest Saturday possible.

I think that its a decent comprise and though its not necessarily the cheapest car, its still a decent bargain to the next owner.

New buyer if any will pay me $6,750 and at this point of time, the car paper value + road tax rebate + scrap value = $6,326.40, which works out to be $423.60

Not exactly the cheapest at $423.60 but I think its a fair price.

If no buyer, its fine with me..

As I said before, I can either scrap the car or leave the car in the car park.

The car is yours, and the prerogative to sell at what price and to who is yours.

It is such a conundrum that we always want to buy low, but loath to sell low.

I had had done deals with many, and hence can speak with a little experience - 6 with dealers, 2 with scrapyards, 5 with direct owners.

In case you think i low-ball you, i am not buying any used car. Any price above dealer's offer is deemed a good deal for me. A win-win outcome for "private" seller and "private" owner. (I "quote" and "unquote" the word private - you now what i mean.) Each had its own merits. Use the car as an over-trade may be a better option, though i would not go this way.

Though your opportunity cost is $173.60, the cost to a buyer is more at the end of the car's lifespan (the actual Parf value [about $5k+] + $50 car body).

Again, car is yours.

Just for the sake of discussion.

Reasonable? The risk is all on the buyer.... Suoer low COE, buyer has no option if extensive repairs or change of parts are required...

I will not touch or go near.

I bought a traject from a friend in April last year at $14500. I got back $10300 when I scrapped the car beginning March this yr. We closed the deal at $1500 above what the dealer offered him which both of us were happy as he sold at a price higher than what dealer offered him and I bought at a price lower than what I would have bought from the dealer. So far some repair for aircon and leakage. Overall, I am very satisfied with the price and condition of the car.

I think this should be how we should settle for a 2nd hand car in this forum for genuine buyers and genuine sellers.

If there is any genuine, reasonable sellers out there, I am interested to look at a 2nd hand car at a mutually reasonable price to close the deal.. Thanks.
