New Air Force weapon can take out hundreds of drones instantly — and silently

6a3bcec2d4ec065015240aba9c874bb9

The U.S. Air Force unveiled a weapon this month designed to take out hundreds of drones at once with barely a sound.

The Tactical High Power Operational Responder uses a beam of energy to scramble the electronics inside hundreds of drones at once.

“This unique system allows base defense forces to stop [unmanned aerial system] attacks at long range before they threaten critical infrastructure,” the Air Force Research Lab said in a June 16 animated video.

Increasingly sophisticated drones are becoming more threatening in the hands of enemy militaries as attack and surveillance capabilities grow, the Air Force said in the video. THOR is more effective than small arms and more efficient than heavy arms, which are currently used against drones.

When THOR identifies a target, it shoots a beam of microwaves in less than a second, providing an instant effect on the drones.

They already have focused drone disabling devices, this is just scaling up the drone death beam to a wider killzone.

  • The Housing and Development Board will reclaim land around Pedra Branca
  • The development work will improve facilities on the island, let vessels berth and allow more facilities to be set up
  • It will take a few years to complete
  • The work, announced in 2019, had been postponed owing to a sovereignty dispute with Malaysia

The typical Nimitz aircraft carrier deck is 1.8 ha, whereas this proposed reclamation will be 7 ha. I reckon it'll become Singapore's own unsinkable aircraft carrier, though I hope we don't become embroiled in the looming SCS dispute as a result.

Of they can build some holiday chalets there, it could be the only destination we can fly to in case the covid travel ban drags on for a few more years....

Or cruise ship to dock at. Otherwise going for a cruise is really a cruise to nowhere.

US left Afghan airfield at night, didn't tell new commander

The US left Afghanistan's Bagram Airfield after nearly 20 years by shutting off the electricity and slipping away in the night without notifying the base's new Afghan commander, who discovered the Americans' departure more than two hours after they left, Afghan military officials said.

That seems really odd - the British withdrawal from Camp Bastion was fairly well-documented on Youtube, with all equipment catalogued and packed for shipment back to the UK. In stark contrast this withdrawal smells more like a retreat. I wonder what's up?

there is a saying if u break it u own it.

US  and their allies break afghanistan. they own it to the local afghanistan ppl and soldiers that fight beside them for the last 20 years to give them a way out.
