I prefer spectacles with fixed nose bridge support and not those with 2 plastic ding dong. Always end up bengkoh.

My specs with the 2 plastic ding dong never bengkoh before.

Same here, I also get those fixed ones for the same reason. My son when he was on primary school bought new pairs, within a few days bengko becoz played games at school. Kenna hit basket ball.

you are right. there are 2 ladies who will check your eyes so not sure who you are referring to. but the one who fitted me 3 times, she is good. she just dyed her hair into some strange color which i cannot recall now.

You are referring to the old man? i thought he just make the glasses. he has retired.

Tip of getting glass lens is (i) get the smallest possible frame that fit you well (ii) avoid rectangular frame (unless you can get lens height <30mm). Instead try to get round frame if you can pull it off.

The beauty of small round frame/lens is that it is very much difficult to break (look at airplane windows) and you will get very minimal back light distortions and reflections (your eyes will thank you).

 

glass lenses are damn heavy though, esp if you are heavily myopic like i am. Lens damn thick. As I wear my specs full day, I need them to be as light as possible.

but the plastic ding dong can be adjusted for those without a high nose bridge. agree on the bengkoh part, esp when I was more physically active donkey decades ago. Now move lesser so plastic ding dongs still work for me.

Haven’t been there for a while but maybe got 2 ladies now. The one who’s a bit big size is good. 

Oh, not that old man who sit there one.

I have been washing my spectacles very often now, sometimes even using toothpaste. Just want to get rid of the patchy coating, if can clear then no need for new spectacles. Been very frugal lately .... hehe!

Mine is the smaller size lady (i think).

never see the middle age man before. the shop is all ladies + old man whenever I go there. 

Their service is really good. Will fit you and adjust adjust until you see swee swee.

toothpaste is abrasive. that's why some household tips use toothpaste for polishing of metal parts.

Sometimes change the ding dong and give good spectacle cloth also never charge.
