It is beginning to annoy me, the shudder when the engine restarts after you lift off the brake pedals. There is no permanent way of disabling it and I have to remember to switch it off every time I drive off.

I'm sure the negligible savings in fuel is negated by the extra wear and tear of the engine. And the mountings will probably need to be changed more frequently in future.

Perhaps it is just a ploy by manufacturers to best the emissions standards and also more repairs for the AD workshops once the 3 year warranty runs out.

Start/stop engine is tree-huggers dream.

Supposed to reduce emission.

But then, if you really want to tree-hug, you'd simply just stop driving.

It's like turning on and off your lights many times, to save the miniscule electricity. Pretty soon, your switch + some other parts will wear out bcuz all the parts have mean-time-between-failures and that number doesn't change

No as I modded with stiffer engine mount and dogbone .

Without the start stop my car feels like old school Toyota Crown Taxi

If you drive a BMW, the service centre has a way to use last profile and will switch it off base on preference.

If you drive a VW, can be disabled via outside workshop.

If you drive a hybrid, the vibration is virtually non-existence.

Its for car manufacturers to reduce their gas emmision

If you want to save the environment get a hybrid car

I dont think it is a ploy for more maintenace $. This feature is great for big country and light traffic roads. It is frankly useless for Singapore.

I am just waitinf to see elect cars perform here. I personally dont think it can last more than 3 years.

yes it is dam irritating .. i too have to disable each time i start engine...another feature i am irritated is the air con circulation. every 30min the air con internal circulation will be off .. i have to activate it again every  30mins. they claim suppose to be good to let air come in and refresh the cabin. but not when i am in industrial area..

i beg to differ.

If it's not useful in Singapore, how about other countries or cities such as Bangkok or Jakarta?

it's ok for drivers because we're in a car. How about the pedestrians? exhaust fumes?

have u ever stuck in a causeway jam in a motorcycle? do you know how much exhaust fumes our malaysian folks breath in everyday?

in theory. with this idle stop system, it brings better air, therefore better environment for all of us.

No use la that start stop can only last 1-2 min. Good for traffic light waiting but if every 200m got traffic light, then its getting annoying.

Aircon will start to flow hot air macam sauna, then wait 1 min engine start. Next start stop activation after some drive.

Its not like hybrid whereby battery will last for 20-30min traffic jam. If will start engine after u drive hence u don't feel the vibration. So if u want to have environmental friendly car, get hybrid not start stop. And hybrid also not cheap to maintain or to buy.

Otherwise can get euro V or euro VI diesel cars, emit less pollution compared to petrol car

I wan to praise you but the system said I just praise u so I cant.. hahah

Haha no worry bro i feel for u

The worst part during indonesian haze, i must wear mask driving cos anytime haze will come inside my car lol

How about removing the fuse for the start stop system?
