Detach8 5th Gear May 10, 2015 Author Share May 10, 2015 (edited) but u see the blue car didnt turn left at the first or 9 clock exit, instead it show it go straight and exit at 12. if the green car want to exit at 9 ? how lol CANNOT LAH. Go one full circle while attempt to filter to the outer lane, then attempt exit after going one round. That's why when unsure about where you are going to exit, always stay in the INNER lane. A bit of common sense here. If you are going to turn left in a regular cross "+" junction, which lane do you keep? Left lane of course. Detach8 5th Gear May 10, 2015 Author Share May 10, 2015 (edited) Having said that (international rule), Singapore's roundabout can be very special.... with traffic lights. The traffic lights are to control the inflow of cars into the roundabout to prevent a congestion or gridlock. In other countries there's also traffic light to control the flow of cars onto expressways or bridges. The rules of the roundabout does not change even if there's traffic light. When in doubt, always enter the right lane and if you miss the exit, well, it's a roundabout -- so just go another round. what if the exit is with 2 lanes and you are on the left lane, would you still go straight? YES. Right lane can also go straight. Another tricky and crowded roundabout is Tuas exit It has 3 lanes for queuing but actually only have space for 2 cars to drive around it If you use it everyday, think it should be ok coz you will definitely be vigilant and the key is give way when needed Maybe in your case, that's a newbie to that place and not sure how to drive on the roundabout On normal turnings, sometimes lane formation also not correct, the roundabout is even more complicated especially for first timers The PIE-Tuas roundabout is unique. It has a left bypass lane to turn left, but the rules does not change here. I don't recall the roundabout having lane markings, so it means cars just take turns to enter the roundabout, and signal their intents. But in general, the rule still applies: Left lane - left or straight Middle lane - straight or right Right lane - right only Edited May 10, 2015 by Detach8

If you are going to turn left in a regular cross "+" junction, which lane do you keep? Left lane of course. ya that is exactly I was meaning, now got picture easiler to explain. the blue car have the right not to exit or turn left at the first junction, he can chose to proceed in the circle and left turn at any junction, the green car if he want to left turn he need to make sure there is no blue car at his left, he cannot assume the blue car will left turn and he turn along with him . The red sentence above is incorrect. The blue car MUST exit by the second turn at 12 o'clock. He does not have the liberty to choose. Blue car CANNOT go to 3 o'clock. Hamburger Hypersonic May 11, 2015 Share May 11, 2015 YES. Right lane can also go straight. not sure if we are on the same wave length. What i asked is (when driving on the left lane with 2 lane exit) whether you are only suppose to turn left to exit or can go straight which might hit the car on your right which is also exiting in the same exit. bro Eyke roundabout says it all. A classic example would be the marine parade roundabout. Car A cannot go straight and must exit while B can choose to exit or go straight.
RadX Moderator May 11, 2015 Share May 11, 2015 http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2690459-roundabout-rules-was-ntuc-right/?hl=roundabout quite a few threads here on this too yes lots cockanathans i use the pinoeer round about at pinoeer road north below AYE every day , 2 lane go in, there is no lane marking dotted or any thing inside if u go in from the left lane u become on the outside, basically u can chose to exit any exit u want if any car go in from the right lane , u become inside, and u want to exit left, and it happen the vehicle on your left chose to go ahead, well u need to slow down signal left and filter out, thats how i see it lol http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2672734-pioneer-circus-roundabout/?hl=roundabout

Mason016 Supersonic May 11, 2015 Share May 11, 2015 at the end of the day... all bros, sistas.... be careful in roundabout.. and crucially... signal intention... even if you have a right of way following international rules etc... no point getting into accident... waste time waste money... +1! I'd rather reach my destination safely than be bothered about who is right. No use being right if you have to drive your car to the workshop and claim the clown just to be right. For many of us who drive on the expressway, who is the one most likely to get into an accident? The road hogger on lane 1 or the impatient chap behind the road hogger fumming that the road hogger isn't yielding? Disclaimer: I drive on lane 2 which is usually faster. Beregond Supersonic May 11, 2015 Share May 11, 2015 this picture say it all , exactly like the pinoeer 1 i use every day A must left turn, even before the roundabout the road already got left turn arrow on it no horse run. B can go straight only no left turn. but in some cases b can left lurn or go straight, must see the arrow or lane marking (in most cases B cannot left turn) C very straightforward, if B and C go straight, and C want to left turn, he need to give way to B, B can chose to exit at which ever exit he want if like the right picture, and there is no distinctive lane marking or arrow, normally we assume A and B both can go straight, and B need to give way to A if he want to filter left

Raptor22 2nd Gear May 11, 2015 Share May 11, 2015 Simple rules. 1. Always give way to the right (in Sg). 2. If in wrong lane in the roundabout, simply go round again and prepare to filter in advance 3. Use your signal lights to inform vehicle entering the circus as well as vehicle behind your intention to filter off. 4. PATIENCE and keep cool when on the roads. On a separate note. We should always leave early for any appointment so that we do not need to rush, speed on the roads, cut-in and out of traffic at the slightest opportunity when other cars are keeping a safe distance. Actually, this is why many people do not keep a safe distance from the car in front because of others cutting in each time a safe distance is kept. Detach8 5th Gear May 11, 2015 Author Share May 11, 2015 I think enough is said, and anybody reading this thread would have gained some knowledge (including myself). But I guess we should start sharing some videos. If I ever capture one I'll pull it out. I was in Sabah, Malaysia last month and really want to show how people there go through roundabouts. Its smoooooooth. Everybody knows what to do. Here, though, people are clueless, which leads to a lot of lane cutting and even honking, and thus resulting in congestion.
