One reason why I bought NA and didn't even want to tempt myself to test drive XT

Better you take public transport la. Then don't worry about FC. All cars FC bad la.

Coz oil per barrel can only go one way from now. UP!!!!!!

thought I share my review of the forester 2.0 NA after having it for 7 days in Hokkaido

Picked up car from Nippon rental on Monday.

Packed in 4 big luggage and a duffel still with some space to spare for my kids backpacks.

The version I got had the I-Sight features, lane departure and collision warning.

Driving out of the lot to our lunch stop, the car handled wonderfully through the gentle curves of the road and had to keep in mind to keep to the speed limit coz the car just kept wanting to go.

After lunch its time to head for the mountains to Niseko. Route 1 was closed and we had to make a detour through the mountains. Picture non-stop hair pin turns on Icy roads. First few turns had me going slow but confidence just came as we went along and the car ate up the 100odd km till we got to Niseko.

The little road into our chalet was packed with snow and ice. Engaged the X-mode and it cut through nicely. Snow wasn't deep powder type so it did fairly well

After 2 days of Skiing I decided to do bit of exploring on my own while the kids continue to ski. Went to the nearby towns of Kutchan and Lake Toya. Mountain driving was just fantastic as the first day. Hairpin turns after hairpin turns.  Till I decided to check out an ancient temple where the route in was covered in snow. Drove in took a few pictures and on my way out I got stuck.  X-mode and whatever just din help kept getting deeper into the snow.

Just then an uncle in a old Hiace came by spoke lots of Jap which I din understand, threw me a shovel and told me to dig my wheels out.

You will be amazed what they have in their boot, he had a tow cable and tow hooks. So while I was digging my wheels out of the snow he hooked me up to his van. Told me to drive out while he tug me when I got stuck.  After half an hour of diging and hooking up I got out of it. Thanked the uncle and went on my way.

Apart from that episode, the car handled wonderfully, drive was comfy and firm when it needed to be.

Definitely a car worth considering. The getting stuck part could also have been due to the snow tires having some wear and not totally attributed to the car.

Have fun with your new rides guys.

the HKS Legamax nice anot? Is the boxer rumble still audible?

No more boxer rumbles for current generations of boxers cos the exhaust header is no longer uneven.

Saw a XT with podup speedometer on the windscreen. Car number 7272. If you are reading now. Dun mind to share where you install it?  [bounce2]  [drivingcar]  [drivingcar]

Search for A8 5.5" HUD and you will get many sellers for this... plug n play to OBD2 port, no installation required... cheers
