Too many different spec and price range from different PI and I don't want to take the risk & bet to trust PI. Not to mention some of the words in the car systems are in Japanese. don't wish to pay money to accommodate in order to own such car. Just my personal preference only.

For HRV, punchy engine.. expected from Honda cars. Interior wise, kinda basic but functional. The boot space is small, especially when you have toddler(s)... won't be enough when going for road trips up NSHW.

I tested the car out of curiousity too. All I hear is the exhaust sound like it's fast but the car is not really moving fast.

 

You try suddenly accelerate from 40km/h to a target speed of 80km/h, can feel the engine is struggling while the exhaust note sounded like it's no problem. But I do admit the throttle response is fairly quick, typical of Honda.

 

The Nissan QQ 1.2 powertrain felt more refine, as I said before if I were to choose HRV and QQ, I'd take the QQ..

Yep.. EX 1.5... pick up is sluggish... after 2 to 3 gear it's fine.

On FC of XT, i am having at 11.4-12.6L/100km. Not fantastic but very decent for me as it is 80% city driving, 20% expressway and i have a lot of waiting and queuing. It is ever better than my previous QQ+2.

 

I would urge all fellow XT owners to try this.

Urban driving -> switch to 'S'

Expressway -> Maintain with 'I'

Or use 'S' throughout your drive.

However, if waiting or queuing, do switch to 'I'.

 

I use 'S' mode most of the time.

I do not change from 'S' to 'I' at traffic junction.

Will switch to 'I' only when waiting or queuing.

 

Doesn't sound very logical isn't it. hahahah.

Well, it does give a better FC for me!

 

Perhaps it is because in 'S' mode, the lighter the need to step on the accelerator.

 

Do try and let me know if the same happens.

Regarding the gear change sound, i believe i have the same experience.

 

My XT do give a 'thudd' sound when i change from D to R or when P to R previously. I have 'resolved' or found the issue. i believe it is the speed of us changing gear..... we are too fast haha. It is more apparent when the car is 'cold'. I have since slow down on the speed of gear changing. Be gentle and a couple seconds slower.

 

In any case, i did bought up the issue when i send for my first servicing, Yes, the Service Representive said it is normal. The current gear stick was made tighter verus the previous versions (which said to have more freeplay/more loose). They tuned the gear stick and made it not as tight. It work well since and i also continue to be slower in gearing change.

 

When car is cold, the gear fluid may not have fully distributed and thus the 'thudd' sound occurs more easily. The service guy also say no issue on the gear box. Do make sure that the car is at complete stop before changing gear.

 

The next apparent issue i had was the shuddering of the car, especially when car is cold. Once again, was assured that it was normal. XT is a turbo car, RPM is high (abv 1500 when car is idling) so it is a side effect. And also that the horizontal opposed configuration of the Boxer engine plays a part too. But well, small issue verus the good ride and the power of the XT. Enjoying every moment of it.

I raise my opinion (critic). Too many ppls comment good (pro) about their prefer model/brand. If ppls cant take critic (con), only want to listen to good words, how to improve?

Why not? my current drive is 7km/L. Journey to my designation is ~1.5hr (near 2nd link) Return another ~1.5hrs. Per trip cost me more than a quarter to 1/3 of my tanks. Not to mention if need to travel to other locations. Besides, I don't use all my petrol before top up. usually a quarter tank I top up,

 

Not all test drive is as per expected. It is either need to wait for very long or no car to test drive. e.g. when I told the SE I want to test drive X-trail, she told me no car atm.

I used to drive from my home West side of SG in the morning (jammed at upper bukit timah to AYE, then to CBD), drop my wife off at CBD and then to Tampines for meetings and it does not take me more than an hour.

I wish I can reach at 1 hr but never been able to achieve that. Certain part in Tuas has only 1 lane and is always pack with those heavy vehicle. typically, I am stuck there for around half an hr.

I am neither a subaru fan boy nor earning commission from each forester sold. I don't think FXT is perfect. I don't think anyone who owns a FXT thinks it is perfect.

 

Most of us just happen to love the power FXT provides and this is probably the best we can get within the 130k bracket. We therefore forgive its weakness like high FC, slightly higher insurance (accordingly to you) and slightly dated interior.

 

It may not be the best looking SUV in the car park but it is definitely one of the fastest.

I find tHe insurance is higher than the rest, I got my existing insurer to quote me. It's 300 more than what I have paying for last 2 years on my car.

 

Also - aig actually offers competitive rates, cheaper than direct Asia if compare to a similar flexible plan.

Precisely. You can't have everything for 130k. Heck even doubling it to 250k there are still things you won't like. Just go with whatever is important to oneself. The rest have to compromise. Lucky alexa72 is not my boss, I will never be able to please him.

If Alexa72 says "50% of my time are travelling aboard" - then don't have to worry about pumping petrol every 2 to 4 days (as quoted by Alexa72... since not around to fully finished the petrol so fast.

 

For me before buying my FXT, did a bit of research on the cars that fits my needs (less than a week). Go to showroom on sunday (didn't manage to test drive cause my son was cranky already)... so went to test drive on Monday lunch time (Outlander, FXT and HRV* after narrowing it down the cars) and booked my car on tuesday :)

 

*Testing HRV was to see what the fuss is all about with Vezel/HRV. :)

 

 

I tested both recently, u Really cannot compare a real SUV with a "cross over" totally different class la

 

FXT wins all except for interior thats all.

 

But i must admit the HRV / Vezel is one of the best choices for CAT A cars.
