dcb Turbocharged January 9, 2016 Share January 9, 2016 Rear disc brakes will be nice. Anyone spotted LEDs headlights for this sedan? Thailand specs mazda 2 in Malaysia comes with all round disc brakes. Not sure if SG ones will be better equipped. Will have to see it at Motorshow. ↡ Advertisement
Heartbreakid 6th Gear January 14, 2016 Share January 14, 2016 Rear disc brakes will be nice.Too bad. Local version has no rear disc brakes. Saw it at the Motorshow. Build wise is not much of a difference from MIJ Mazda 2. Centre console feels flimsy. Looks is good.

Mazda2gal 5th Gear January 16, 2016 Share January 16, 2016 Replaced my first Gen Mazda 2 with the new one, have been driving the new Mazda 2 for 3+ weeks. Overall satisfied with the new M2 but I'll still miss the old one in some ways. The lower headroom and tighter space in the front seats required a bit of adjusting to though I'm petite. The boot is way smalller too. The old M2 is more spacious but the new one feels more 'solid', steering is also heavier. It's a quieter drive than the old one, though sometimes I depress the pedal just slightly harder can hear the engine roar. Accidentally exceeded 3k rpm a few times within the first 1000km, the car sprinted to action. Have yet to try the sports mode, will only do so after the 1k servicing, but the car is responsive enough without sports mode. Had a surprise with FC, the old one only fetched 13-14km per litre. The new one fetched 740km on 37litres, which is an amazing 20km/l, on 85% expressway. Shall continue to monitor it to see if it's really so fuel saving. I didn't switch off the i-stop mode but I don't often feel the engine switching off and restarting, most of the times I only feel it when I stop to position my car for parking. At those times i-stop becomes a nuisance because the car totally stop and engine cut off, I had to tap the accelerator to reactivate the engine. Whereas stopping and moving off at traffic lights,95% of the time, I don't think the engine disengage and restart. Is it because I don't brake hard enough? Another issue is during reversing, these few days I feel strong vibration coming from somewhere, probably the brakes, not when I first start reversing, but after reversing about 1-2 seconds. Anyone encountered this issue? (I know nth abt car mechanisms, would appreciate layman explanation.) I had a tough time calling the ubi service centre to make appointment for servicing. Tried calling several days in Dec and no one ever picked up the phone. Too many Mazda sold and not enough manpower to handle servicing? Someone finally answered after I called in early Jan, and waited several minutes on the phone until I almost gave up, and Saturday servicing full until late Feb. Think I must book service appointment for 5k when I go for 1k servicing, calling the service centre hotline is really time consuming.

dcb Turbocharged January 16, 2016 Share January 16, 2016 Once you depress the brakes not hard enough the engine will 'restart', no need to step on accelerator then engine 'restart'. If the iStop doesn't kick in, you didn't step on the brakes hard enough. I had to tap the accelerator to reactivate the engine. Whereas stopping and moving off at traffic lights,95% of the time, I don't think the engine disengage and restart. The fuel consumption is impressive!Haha maybe thats the difference with Sushi and tomyumFront wise both look the same, just that it is a booted version of the hatch. Materials and buildwise, not really able to tell between Jap or Thai. As I checked both, both got the problem of not having a securely fixed front center console. The sedan does come with a middle interior lamp though. No digital speedo, no rear disc for this Thai Mazda 2, perhaps is to match the specs with Jap Mazda 2. Heartbreakid 6th Gear January 17, 2016 Share January 17, 2016 (edited) From the photo the sedan version have a different looking bumper. The centre console for my HB is securely fixed, what do you mean? Hmm. Maybe I can't tell the difference of the front bumpers between the two. Perhaps I should say "sturdy" instead of "securely". As in I rest my thigh on the padded console, the console "shifted" abit. Then I hold the console area where the MZD controls are and move it, the console "moves". Hence, my earlier term of not "securely fix". As compared to other makes of the same category, other makes at this area feels more sturdy. But overall, Mazda 2 still has the overall better package. Hope this clarifies. Edited January 17, 2016 by Heartbreakid

Rear seat was not secured to the latch and created rattling sound, that I found out and rectified on my own. Seems like TEK was rushing for delivery and did a slip shod work. They might not secure properly for you too.
