xenobaka 1st Gear November 23, 2017 Share November 23, 2017 Any review on 116d from present owners? Have had the car for a couple of weeks now. Some thoughts from the top of my head. Mileage is around 17km/l for mix city/highway driving. Highway driving can reach up to 27km/l. Infotainment system is basic, no touchscreen, no apple car play, no navigation, but the interface is good. Car creaks slightly but PML can fix that by putting tape at the door / body contact points during your first service. Suspension isn't the smoothest (i.e. a bit stiff) but I have read it's much better than the previous version of the 1 series. On the flip side, the car feels responsive due to the stiffer suspension. Manual handbrake could be a pro or con. If you are a pro driver you would appreciate it for doing J turns / drifting / etc, but if you are not and used to the electric handbrake then you will find it bothersome to manually release and pull the handbrake. Not to mention sometimes you might forget and drive off with the handbrake up (-_-" my wife did that). The car will alert you though if you do drive off with the handbrake up so don't ignore the notifications. Diesel engine vibrates more than petrol but that's a known fact. Noise-wise, it's just slightly louder but you won't notice it inside the car. Diesel is cheaper than petrol but road tax is higher at ~1200 SGD. Visibility is good. Easy to check blindspots. However rear window is a bit small but it's a common complain of hatchbacks. Servicing is every 12,000 km.
Porche 5th Gear November 24, 2017 Share November 24, 2017 Ya for high mileage, the additional $400-500 is worth it. Only scare it bring more worries

KrakenC Neutral Newbie November 25, 2017 Share November 25, 2017 I've called the bmw hotline but so far unable to get an actual response. I wanted to check if the 5 year warranty covers all parts such as gaskets etc. The customer service officer basically said they only cover the costs if its proven to not be my fault (not sure how they verify that). Can anyone elaborate further?

Wolfverine Twincharged November 25, 2017 Share November 25, 2017 If you have the Service Inclusive Plus, that will be comprehensive and will cover brake pads etc. https://www.pml-bmw.com.sg/en/topics/offers-and-services/personal-services/service-inclusive.html I've called the bmw hotline but so far unable to get an actual response. Spring Moderator November 26, 2017 Share November 26, 2017 no leh, stock susp is actually quite soft. Abit strange to hear this cos most BMW models have stiffer suspension comparatively. Even my 216GT feels this way and it helps in the handling I guess cos u cant have it both ways.
therock Supersonic November 26, 2017 Share November 26, 2017 Maybe it's a new convert to Conti cars from the softer Asian car suspension setup? So it's relatively stiff ..
