Lexus specialised workshop

Would recommend one of my regular workshop for normal servicing.

KHY auto, sin ming auto care #02-11.

Look for ah kiat or ah hao. They're brothers.

Specializes in mazda, but normal servicing for all jap cars are ok. Price reasonable whether u bring your own parts or not.

They are 1 shop that really hoist up your car to check for other wear n tears, leaking, visible issues for basic servicing.

They are good honest mechanic, dun need to change they wun ask u to change. Things they are unsure or dun know how to do, they will admit and ask u go find someone else. But dun expect very welcoming sales talk from them, they are hands on mechanic.

Workshop normally opens from about 12pm, cos they always work late till 8-9pm or even later if got issues to resolve. Opens on sat/sun too.

chin auto wrong diagnoistic almost cost me 2-3K.

pity those car owners who didnt get a chance for 2nd opinion

I ask him where the sound came from. he told me steering rack spoilt. must change whole set.

i sent the car for 2nd opinion.

found out, not steering rack....it is one of the rubber connecting to the lower arm harden. (sorry, im not that well verse on the part name and area). paid about S$600 to settle the noise issue.

till now, many months already...steering rack no sound and still going strong.

Any recommendations for reliable garage if the bsm mode dun function?

Can anyone recommend a workshop in the West / Central side for Lexus servicing? Have tried Chin and a couple of others but they're either too far away or standard not up to their reputations.

Thanks.

Bringing an old thread to life. Any recommendation for west side Lexus IS servicing specialist?

My free servicing at BM is over. The servicing rates there really scary ($4xx / $6xx for every 10k / 20k servicing, $1,xxx for 40k), so would like to try outside workshop familiar with our car.

Friend recommended Chin but will seriously reconsider given some of the earlier feedback in this thread.

Thanks.

Looks like you joined MCF today and defending Chin is fine with me..... don't know about others though.......its a big question mark nowadays...... so clarification on your part would be good too

What model of Lexus do you drive that you sent him?? .... was it just regular servicing??  or was there some issue you had that you brought to them; How old was the car or the mileage when you started sending them for servicing or repairs??

Hi, I just got my Is250 feb 2020. this july going to be 10 years.

Went to chin last mth for some issue ( Buring smell )

turn out to be engine seal issue. change all engine seal rubber, 8pc for each engine, totla 16 rubble seal . quote me $550..
Understand is going to be alot of dismantle and labour work. so i go ahead with it.

during the work, he notices a part ( Fuel pressure sensor ) got to be change soon. the part got some melting. so i just go ahead and change it. ( say cost 3/400 )
i go ahead as well

he show me my spark plug is still new, no need to do anything.

the only thing spoil, and i didt change is the Hood Bonnet Automatic Bar Hydraulic Strut. Quote 100 plus or 200 , cant really remember.

Over-roll i find he is very knowledge about my car.
And my engine booth is dirty like fxxk, while he doing the work, i try to use wet tissue to clean abit, he ask me dont do. he will help me clean up and wash. and he really did.

and when i collect my car, next day morning, he still do a walk tru with my car, show me which part is good, which part need to take note. and which going to change soon.

this is my experience with his during the 1st visit.

sorry for my lousy english.

Good to hear about your experience with him.

Yes, he might not be the cheapest and not a smooth talker but he get the job done. Unlike his ex-partner at Riverview last time who talked a lot only.

He's a hands on guy and does everything himself now. No other workers except a lady admin staff.

eh, I thought now don't even have lady admin staff anymore, unless he recently hired.

Last year he's was pretty much solo, except on occasion he will have his son help him out.

So he employed a auntie from the opposite unit which ceased operations.

during his hey days. there were 5+1. himself, his chief mech, 2 mech, his son and an admin i think.

then it became his son and him and his wife.

the last time i went back last year to do a toyota wish, he was alone with his wife. son also not there. Doubt i will go back. His charges are crazy now. Simple oil change plus filter. $50-60.

Maybe my fault, cause he asked if Normal Service and i said yes. which i then told him no need to check air and aircon filter, top up wash fluid or any of the other checks as i do it myself. i had expected him to reduce the labour charge but he didnt. Anyway No more for me.

He has been my go-to workshop for many years. In the early years he was a great help. But lately he has also been giving me a fair bit of grief. And i can see the charges creeping up also, probably to make up for the lost Mark X business. His problem is that he is not improving, he needs to learn how to keep up.
