The road has straight, undulating, curvy stretches.

The Bridge at 55 seconds mark,

The traffik polis (L plates motorbikes) at 1.30min mark.

RIP

I'm not very familiar but i thought the road up to mersing itself is not that curvy? It's after that the B roads really start.

me and my friends once went to the jetty to take the small ferry to the kelongs and then drove up to kuantan.

I read somewhere that Powerbanks batteries for car cams are one of the common cause of recent car fires. Still skeptical about these lithium batteries at hot temperature.

Such a sad incident, I was in Malaysia at the time as well. Nothing further can be said, just hope the boys extended family will take care of him.

I think I buy one of those glass breakers for the car, no harm just having one onboard.

This road is swervy as a snake and even within the speed limit i had a hard time staying in control of my car. I imagine it would be worse in a car with higher center of gravity. Another danger of this road is people are usually headed to the ferry terminal to catch a ferry to rawa/tioman even redang so many people are rushing especially if you're blocked by slow vehicles along most of the no overtaking route.

Then you were driving too fast, no matter the speed limit.

So sad [bigcry]

many happy photos of the loving family

Sad, but i hate it when the media plays up one side of the victims while ignoring the others ie the dead corolla passenger who is surely more 'victimised'.

chinese news reported the boy was not trapped so the mum used her last bit of energy to throw the boy out from the window.... passerbys then carried him away from the burning wreck  [smallcry]

the boy's car seat probably saved him... n likely the door was locked in by electrical failure... reminds me of paul walker's death... also stuck inside car...

Agreed on that, I was reading the news and not much was mentioned with regards to the passenger of their other family :(

Same thoughts but could it be that the media in sg focus more on the sg family, maybe the MY media covers more on the corolla

On hindsight, fb is quite a good media, the boy can visit the fb page of his parents & brother when he is a bit older, the photos along with the posts offer good remembrance of them, hope can ease some of his pain of losing them

Many motorists ( esp from Singapore ) drive fast in Malaysia's small road without street lights.

The traffic officer said the incident happened @ around 6am, not 7am. At 7am it should be bright already.

And he also confirmed that one passerby saved the boy by breaking the rear windows and pulling him out to safety. As the fire is raging, he could not get back in time to save the rest.

The other victim in the toyota is the lady malay driver who is in  the car alone. She was the real victim in this case as her car was crashed into by someone who has lost control due to some other reasons.

Drive safe. I don't understand why some drivers like to speed into the darkness. If u meet a cow, you have 10% chance of living.

Guess we will never know what happened. But it won't bring the survivors peace anyway.

Best not to speed. Especially as a father, our concentration is easily affected when our kids are crying or whining. I'm guilty of this myself often in Sg.

Another possibility was he might have hit a pothole n lost control. Even d WL JB immigration got tis pothole problem some time back n it took them a long time to resurface it. So, not surprising.
