Not so fast bah? Have to do my sum first. CO wants a new car and thinks we can afford but I am in favour of renewing since my Sunny did only 38k mileage in 9 years. Still doing my homework. Arggh?

Very similar to me.

I've done 41 k and my 10 years up in November this year.

Going to renew COE.

Mainly because a new car won't give me anything, maybe status but I don't need that.

Also less stressful when driving up to Malaysia and in other ways as the ST article mentioned.

I've had maybe 9 or 10 new cars in my lifetime from job or bought myself and it was great when younger but don't need now.

Which one are u?

strawberry, kiwi, peach, or........?

:XD:  :XD:

I would say strawberries tart... feeling sour(unripe strawberries=time not ripe yet=not good time to buy car/enter market) when I see coe prices rises, and feeling sweet(ripe strawberries=time is ripe =good time to buy car) when I see coe drops...  [laugh]

Just to add-on, PI quoted to my friend for Honda Vezel:

Honda Vezel - $89,999 (8 bids non-guranteed)

Top up $10,000 for guranteeed COE. Rebate at $35k.

8 bids non guaranteed... That's a very long lock in time.i Feel that's a very big disadvantage to the buyer.

First time I heard guaranteed COE need to top up $10K!

Then the rebate at $35K. 8 bids non guarantee, that's 4 months!

This PI super safe! All at his own benefits. Pls pm me the name of this PI, I will avoid. Hahahahaha....

ST article as in Christopher Tan's? I read that and yeah, quite a logical move for low mileage cars. Just need a fresh coat of paint and viola! As good as new!

Looking at the rebate and top up condition, you can walk away from this PI far far away.

For 35k limit, means must get the car within 6 bids, also indirectly mean there will be a period of 35-37k Coe happening in 3 mths time.

No chance of CAT A COE falling below $45K in the next few bids. Hyundai, Kia, Mazda and Toyota distributors' order books are filled to the brim this weekend.

Hi guys,

I got 2 questions -

1. Nissan is offering additional $2000 discount for 2015 stock with open cat COE for immediate registration. I suspect Cat B COE may drop next round, so would it better for me not to get this promo and stick with the 6 bids package? The non-guaranteed bids COE Rebate level is $50,000 for Cat B.

Maybe Nissan is holding on to too many Open cat COE and they will expire if not used by a certain time, so give discount to buyers.  If you stick with the 6 bids package, you potentially don't enjoy the $2K discount, if Nissan bid successfully and the CAT B price does not fall below $50K.

The other factor is whether you need a car now.  If yes, the immediate registration meets your need.  Else, wait at the sideline.  I foresee 6 months down the road, CAT A COE price will be < $40K, CAT B COE price will be < $45K.  The global economy is not doing well, we have a huge supply of COEs this year (i.e. >110,000 cars to be de-registered this year).

Btw, what car are you getting?

In most cases those run road PI; their car prices or packages are very attractive and best in the market. That is to attract most deposit within a short time.

Not necessarily. This to me is a pricing gimmick. At the end of the day one may need to top up else they will not state 10k for topping up to guaranteed. Furthermore at 99,999 if top up but high chance of waiting for 8 bids, risky...
