Altis Standard seems to be the best deal now at $96K if you assume that BM will get COE and deliver the car eventually.

Potential buyers keep your fingers crossed, history does not repeat itself like in Feb 2015, whereby Altis was advertised at $98K, and the distributor did not secure COE after 3 months and asked buyers to top up.

 

Many buyers backed out of the deal and claimed back their deposit.

Gov already put up all kind of signs to 'encourage' us to use dtl2 liao. I think next budget confirm up petrol tax again.. really knn.. oil price is usd$33 nw.. 95 suppose to be around $1.6x per litre liao if not for the stupid tax

Looking at the oil price heading to 20 bucks a barrel, and the market trend now, this is gonna be the case soon. I finally need a car due to job requirement, but even with that, and the COE dropping, it's still not convincing enough to spend such an amount on a car. 

 

Go rent a car from Uber @ $50/day, can double up as part time Uber driver too

The increases after Feb 2015 were due to CEVS adjustment after Jul 2015. Moreover, the economy was not too bad in 2015. Interest rate just increased to 2.78% (EIR 5.5%) and will only continue to increase.

But last month, Honda put $57k for cat b rebate. It turned out $55k.

I just had an interesting thought for those who want to see less cars on the road.

 

They need to be COE bears and not bulls as the only time we will see less cars on road is when supply > bids and COE = $1.

Some people very funny one. A friend of mine has a car but don't use. Take public transport to work. Car only used when there is a family outing or buy groceries nia. Week days car sleeping (in the car park) but owner goes to work. Car has more rest than owner.

I used to work in CBD area with free parking, but I don't drive to work. In fact it's more faster and more relax to take public transport there especially during peak hours. Nowadays with an iPad, I can do lots of things like reading the news during the journey.

I'm guessing that your friend's car has a very, very low COE? Even paying extra for Uber, Grabcar or taxi each week for 10 long years will still be way less that current COE prices.

Driving anywhere towards central Singapore is a nightmare. Jams, ERPs and nasty drivers everywhere.

 

But I stay at Loyang and work at Tuas, car has more value as compared to public transport lol.

I used to work in CBD area with free parking, but I don't drive to work. In fact it's more faster and more relax to take public transport there especially during peak hours. Nowadays with an iPad, I can do lots of things like reading the news during the journey.

Different preference bro.

 

I live 6km from my office in CBD, house next to a MRT Station and office is just across 1 road from MRT station. No free parking given by company.

 

But I choose to pay from my own pocket $360 CBD season parking, pay ERP $2.50 everyday because seldom reach CBD before 8am.

 

I don't find the CBD traffic stressful at all and I think parking in Singapore in the shopping centres are relatively easy to get and driving is my second nature...but that's me.

 

The feeling of having personal space and not needing to squeeze with others bus and MRT, and anxiety of waiting for a cab. .is worth more than the $700-800 on the extra for driving into town each month.

 

There is extra cost per month because of this choice, so I simply offset it by driving a Japanese bread & butter car unlike some I know that drive more expensive BMW or Audi but don't drive to work.

I think those who have cars but seldom drive it are marginal buyers. Their salary are just enough to get by. Usage of the car will increase their expenses. That explains why they seldom use it. Of course they will say traffic stressful, hard to get parking etc.....

These are just face saving excuses.
