It all start at 2001 when I started buying reissues transformers, never stop since. My collection is mainly transformers, with 20% other toys, its become my 2nd hobby. Its been 15 years, I calculated I spent around 18k on toys since 2001.

The best transformers series I also far are the binaltech series. See the link below, I have every single one of them.

http://tfsquareone.blogspot.sg/2015/04/goodbye-binaltech.html?m=1

The other is the transformers Masterpiece series which is still ongoing. These 2 series are the best the toyline has to offer...

The main highlights of the binaltechs is their transformation. They are not for kids.

The transformation is so complex, in car mode the doors open to see the interior dashboards and so on. sometimes the weapons transformed to form the car's engines or exhaust.

The built quality is top-notch too, with the Japanese version with Diecast metal parts.

Sadly they don't make transformers like these anymore.

Binaltechs! Released at the height of the toy nostalgia golden era of the early 2000s.

Besides the binaltechs, the masterpiece starscream was also cool. Approached the Yamato VF-1 in quality.

That was the golden age of toy collecting. Many in my generation grew up, finally had some $ to spend on the toys our parents couldn't buy for us in the 70s/80s and went crazy on a buying/collecting spree.

I am really out of space now.

Zoids

Yamato Macross Valks in 1/60 and 1/72 plus some destroids

Die cast warbirds in 1/72

Plastic kit 1/700 ships

Armored Core kits

and misc other stuff ......

really need bigger house or extra room...

Yamato quality is a nightmare actually, nice to see but stressed to transform. I prefer the later models by bandai, cheaper too.

Its sad to see Zoids disappear from shelves after Tomy and Takara merger.

The current transformers lineup is very disappointing, the figures are smaller, simpler and use cheaper materials.

Everything when down after they finish the "Prime" and "generations" toyline.

The 4th movie toys is a disaster.

Combiner wars is a joke. RID is too kiddy.

Even the masterpiece series downgrade to full plastic instead of their usual diecast parts.

They dun make toys like they used to anymore.

Binaltechs were good for its time but some of the robot modes are kinda ugly. Smokescreen is def one of the better ones and used to fetch quite a high resale price. The next similar line is alternity series. I kinda like those but too bad takara cancelled it.

Agree. Prime is probably one of best line before has/tak start cutting down on the toy size and simplifying the toys. Chug are still alright though.

I do prefer plastic than dc. With plastic, the molds can done with finer details. Dc, while giving the toys more heft, are unble to mold certain details like plastic can. Some mp still have dc but are more found on the feet. I like the new mp line (hate mp ironhide though). Smaller figures means that collecters will have more space to display their collection. Lighter figures means easier to handle and play.

Yamatos are not for 'play transform'. You see which mode you like and transform it once and leave it there for display.

Want to play, can only play in that same mode. I leave all of mine in airplane mode.

I don't collect TF. But I can appreciate the beauty of Binaltech and Masterpiece Starscream.

My view of TF is always clouded by the old toys. e.g. to transform a brick to robot mode, just stand it on its tail and the robot mode is painted on the bottom.
