I am driving Mazda 6,but i am a fair Person,i don't side with Mazda,Subaru is good in handling[4wd],Engine is smoother & quieter than Mazda,power wise & FC,Mazda a tad better because Fwd,Mazda 3 Seats are the same as the 6,which is very ,about Gearbox,cannot get used to CVT,so i found mazda 6 speed auto is better ,lastly,Mazda Agent Service..now ,because,they cannot cope with the number of Cars they sold,a normal service needs booking about a Month[if you are choosy on the Date]...hope this help.

i have both volvo awd and scobby awd. never look back to fwd again. unless i hv a chance to buy a 2 door rwd car again.

 

while scobby fc is poorer than mazda, the AWD is worth the pennies. AWD is real time.

 

the mazda 3 is cramp esp the rear seats. YMMV

 

best is bring those u need to ferry and go test drive

 

MI servicing is slightly better when it comes to appt

Is the price very close now? My time Mazda 3 was about 3-4K higher, and that is for the sedan. If I want the hatch will be another 3k more.

 

To me I have no complaint for both, am fine with either one in terms of power, comfort and features albeit Mazda 3 smaller cabin and rear. Hence end up I chose Impreza as its more value for money. To me FC was not much of a concern. Feel is quite individual, I felt that Mazda 3 response and pick up faster with its 6 spd auto, but my friend who test drove both also felt no difference in both.

 

But so far, all the bros' feedback here say smooth and quiet.

My friend is driving Mazda 3 skyactiv pre-facelift model. When he saw my Impreza, he was in awe. He tested my Impreza, and he commended on the drive instantly. Our car was parked side by side, one look, the length of both cars pales in comparison. 

 

His 3 rear passenger space is rather tight, i used to owned a Mazda 3 too, 2010 model. The rear passenger space remain just about the same with the existing 3. 

 

If FC is your main concern in choosing a car, i'd say go for a Vios, Altis or Mazda 3. 

 

After driving the Impreza since 6th May 17, i'm glad i choose the Impreza. You cant beat the stability on a 4WD and a boxer engine, the sound insulation is great too, the car feature pack is another selling point. 

 

Initially my better half is not keen when i told her about considering a "Subaru", she wanted me to purchase another Mazda 3 again as we had never owned a Subaru car before. Now she's glad that we owned the Impreza. 

 

Happy shopping for those bros hunting for a new ride.

Where got quiet? Some complain about juddering when accelerating, some complain on black screen when reversing.

 

Some worried no rear aircon vent

 

Some complain not much mod for the car. Parts are expensive etc etc

The SA was very sure no activation of lock with brake only speed. Brochures also never say anything on brake action activate locking.

 

Got a feeling the pricing may be lower as XV is priced at $228 while the rest are at $360.

Finally collected my ride. Verified today, after engine start, once I depress the brake, central lock kicks in.

Central lock is built in mechanism, just that need manual lock the car after move off. The safety brake lock will lock the car after move off when u depress brake. This I added in before car delivery.

no bro, does not come with alarm. but i think if you wait a while the alarm version might be in, that one will have speed lock. I haven't really tested, vaguely rem it does not unlock when shift to P. i try tmr. 

 

anyway, anyone tried the 2 front USB port? if you plug in USB into one of the slot, and iPhone into the 2nd slot, do they work? somehow whenever i plug in my iPhone, the usb stopped. not sure if its my usb problem.

You may want to check if there is still. Power from ur USB and if any fuse blew.

You may want to check if there is still. Power from ur USB and if any fuse blew.

If free this weekend will try with Iphone. The 2 slot very difficult to access cannot really see them.

Agreed. Difficult to access.

 

Anyway I tried to today with smaller USB. Once I plug in iPhone, CarPlay kicks in. When I go to media, both USB and Bluetooth grey out. As soon as I unplug the iPhone, the USB came on again. So conclude both slots are working fine, just that CarPlay will override other media. Voice command does not work in CarPlay mode as well, Siri took over..

Yah, the drop in COE especially CatA is one of catalyst for the 1.6L.

I guess as majority of folks have purchased the 1.6L, with no very negative feedback, this should be an endorsement of the new Impreza ð

Bro, after collecting and driving for 2 days, first impression is the car does not feel under power (for a 1.6). That being said, power does come in only after 2.5-3k rpm. But the power transfer is smooth with Subaru CVT, it's not dragging gear type like those I tried on the Nissan pulsar or even Mazda 3. It's really more refine. Just need to manage expectation that's it's not a 2.4,2.5l car

Great to hear your assessment that the car doesn't feel underpowered:)
