flashbang Turbocharged April 3, 2016 Share April 3, 2016 based on The Future Of Us exhibition ... spore aim to be car-less society ... transportation is only given to the "must have" group the nation should and will rely on public transport which is connected right to your block with travellator ... They had their fun imagining the future of SG. Please treat it as a creative exercise only, haha...

Arch1984 4th Gear April 3, 2016 Share April 3, 2016 Yeah govt probably spend more on mrt etc. Runs on electricity too. Electric car infra will have to be done using private funds. We do see more and more chargers ard Singapore now. Of course not enough for ec to be main stream.
Oxygen89 1st Gear April 3, 2016 Share April 3, 2016 The price of the Tesla model 3 could be comparable to many B&B cars if Tesla opens a direct showroom here, without going through any dealership

Arch1984 4th Gear April 3, 2016 Share April 3, 2016 35k usd is abt the same price in US as a BMW 3 series. Less rebate sld be around 150k in SG. Can compete against bb cars given that running costs sld be lower. Problem with tesla is that their production capacity is very small. Given the preorder numbers. Dont tink model 3 would reach SG in the near future. If u use a normal 240v socket at home. You will be charging ard 5km per hour. Very slow. Need to install special charger. Unless u drive very little.

However, im guessing it won't reach Singapore until at least 2018 - 2019, due to the huge pre-order numbers. Really hope Tesla does not goes through any dealership in Singapore, this will really bring down the cost of Tesla cars here. For example, PML Singapore's profits for selling an BMW 3 series here in Singapore is about 80k SGD, probably BMW motors Germany earns about 15k from the production cost this is bulls**t to me. http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onemotoring/en/lta_information_guidelines/buy_a_new_vehicle/car_cost.MainPar.30963.File.tmp/Car_Cost_Update.pdf

If Tesla goes direct, the price of the car will be WYSIWYG and will be way lower than a typical BMW 3 series. At such an attractive price, it will surely attract more buyers especially if Tesla bothers to setup the charging infrastructure in SG.

Tesla has been operating using the model of direct-to-consumers sales in the US, however many US states has been trying to restrict this sales model as they create unfair competition among the auto dealerships. http://www.businessinsider.sg/elon-musk-on-teslas-auto-dealer-model-2014-3/?r=US&IR=T#.VwDv5MZT7v0 The only reason why Tesla need a local dealership here in singapore will be due to govt regulations and restrictions And the reason why our government will do that is because our dearest Singapore AD will definitely complain about this "unfair competition", as most people will flock to buy Tesla cars. It will be very different. Without going through one more pair of hands to gain from the profit, prices would definitely be lower. And we are not talking about only 10% or 20% of profits from each sales, the amount of profits those premium dealers earn in singapore is ridiculous.
