Basically, i think tmr's bidding exercise:

cat B: 13k...

cat E: 13k...

[laugh]

CAT A 16,119

Curious.. two questions comes to mind.

What are they intending to do with the winning bids?  Which without they cannot push up the COE price.

And how they manage to rope in hundreds of people to bid, since every bid has to be in the name of an individual... ?

the hearsay is that they will put in bids to push up the min successful bid but not to allow it to the be the winning bid

the hearsay is use their own names lor, how many family, friends, salesmen, staff

as I said, its hearsay, how these dealers manage them is entirely unknown

Supersonic

I hearsay that second hand dealers are putting in many bids to keep the min successful bid price higher (currently 40+k).

This is due to many resale vehicles with high coe are unsold stock and if coe drops as predicted/expected due to influx of coe coming back into the system from the high years, their used cars will lose a lot of money as they purchased them as high prices.

I wonder if there is any truth to this.

This can only be done for open CAT because other types of COE will require an NRIC number and once you win it, it will be non-transferable.

Also, there are so many 2nd hand car dealers and I don't think they will be able to coordinate this.
