Tried uber a few times and talked to the driver. Most of them operates during peak hours only. Morning and evening peak. Rest of the time, they are house wife or have other jobs like property agent.

This is one kf the reason during off peak, uber or grab is much more ex than cab cos supply is low. Make more sense to take cab during off peak.

Uber only stratified for those hope to own a car yet can't afford , now they can go to rent $70 a day and drive few hours to cover the rental .

Can anyone enlighten me how uber company can go bid for 1000 COE for Cat A and B, they use their company name to bid or they use the driver name to bid, abit confuse on this, or the government approved this company to bid COE using their company name?

First, I look at last bidding...calculate the number of unsuccessful bidder.

1.  From last Bidding

Cat A - 1,300 unsuccessful

Cat B - 1,200 unsuccessful

Total 2,500 bidders

2.  Add in the 1,400 Car Expo buyer.

3.  Add in Uber & Grab Car bidding. (est 800x)

4.  Plus, this 3 days Labour Day  holiday sales. (est 300x)

Grand Total = 2,500+1,400+800+300 = 5,000 bids.

Cat A and Cat B available for May 2nd Bid = 3,700 vs 5,000 bids.

Make a wild guess if COE will be up or down this round ? [laugh]

u hv forgotten the 750's Cat E!! :yuush:

You can check with LTA  [:p] Uber have their blessings.  [laugh]

UBER'S collaboration with Lion City Rentals (LCR) to put in bids for certificates of entitlement (COE) for cars here can help Singapore reduce private car ownership, said Warren Tseng, Uber's general manager in Singapore.

"It's (COE) an open bidding system, and we're pretty comfortable with the overall situation with Lion City Rentals. We work with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on some of these things, and they're pretty comfortable with LCR as well," said Mr Tseng on Monday.

Don't think so. If cat A COE becomes much higher and cat B and cat A car prices quite close, I think many ppl will switch to cat B.

That is if Cat A is $20k higher. Imagine the public outcry like years ago? They will say not fair that the rich (Cat B) pay lower Coe.

Also, a lot of cars including premium are now Cat A because of fuel efficiency. Difficult to change to Cat B even at up to $20k premium.

He meant reduce private car ownership, but increase their ownership la hahaha  :a-fun:  :a-t9412:

Relax, don't get so fired up. Nothing will be done to them anyway (or something will be done when they no longer need to bid [:p] ), no point increasing your blood pressure  [laugh]  Meanwhile, life goes on  :a-happy:

So I am right to say as long as Uber have the money, they can bid as many COE as they like all under their company name?

Tink so. Once coe jump and if they cant find ppl to rent. They can sell car for profit.

Uber already state that they will but 1800 coe and grab(smrt) will eat 300 coe.

Their rental is like $1600pm, I wonder who wanna rent from them? And specially when a new car maybe drop to $60k on 2017 or 2018
