Spring Moderator January 19, 2017 Share January 19, 2017 Rated highly in his native country. Hopefully can see him shine in EPL Undoubtedly, he's a good player but City urgently needs reinforcements in defence particularly since most of their defenders bar Stones n Otamendi are over 30. Instead they buying more n more attackers. Admittedly, there is a world wide shortage of quality central defenders but that shouldn't stop City from looking. ↡ Advertisement

Spring Moderator January 20, 2017 Share January 20, 2017 Totally agree with you but when such an attacking talent becomes available, sometime it is difficult not to give it a miss Agreed n he's suppose to be better than the other Gabriel (Barbosa). I give him credit for daring to come to the EPL cos South American ball playing forwards don't normally do well in EPL cos of the physical nature of the League with hatchet like defenders n EPL refs who are more lenient compared to their European n South American counterparts. It's always exciting to see raw, talented players playing their trade in EPL as most of them prefer Liga so I look forward to his debut possibly against Spurs tmr?

We won't know for sure what's their plan for defensive reinforcement. Maybe in summer they will go big to strengthen defense

Spring Moderator January 20, 2017 Share January 20, 2017 the big question is whether ... Pep is still around then... Unless he quits (which is possible cos he has quit before at Barca albeit under different circumstances), I don't see the owners sacking him as they went thru a lot to get him in so unless there is a dressing room revolt like in JM's case at Chelsea previously, he will be there I feel. I'm also backing him to get it right, not the style like at Barca or BM ie running away with the title and tiki taka but after accepting the different challenges the EPL poses and adjusting his game accordingly, my 2 cents.

Guest Neutral Newbie January 20, 2017 Share January 20, 2017 OT a bit to share this heartfelt piece written by a Plymouth fan who "hates" LFC since young. Not because it says good thing about LFC but rather, the point about what football can do to bring out the best of humanity. http://m.plymouthherald.co.uk/the-true-spirit-of-football-was-clear-to-see-in-the-fa-cup-game-between-argyle-and-liverpool/story-30070953-detail/story.html Thank you , it was a really good read, a non YNWA fan respect For our club , a touching story that warms the football comunity,
Spring Moderator January 20, 2017 Share January 20, 2017 i always though South American are one of the most rowdy leagues.... IMO, South American Leagues are more cunning than Europeans ones ie spitting, grabbing balls, diving, feigning injury etc but admittedly I've not watch for some time already so it may have changed. European Leagues esp the EPL is very physical and perhaps the South American build makes it a slight disadvantage as well and maybe the culture and language makes Liga, Portuguese League etc as the natural choice for South American players. Anyway, I welcome Gabriel to EPL!

Osprey23 Turbocharged January 21, 2017 Share January 21, 2017 Man Utd totally deserve a draw. In fact based on balance of play, probably should win it. The goal conceded was against the run of play and it took a wicked deflected from the touch from Mata to beat De Gea. With that goal, Stoke simply just sit back and go long to Crouch. Man Utd did create some good chances but when it seems like the ball just won't go into the net, Rooney rescued it in style. Writing his name into Man Utd's record book as well. Well done Rooney. A scouser who will be remembered by the Mancs for a long while
