Thanks When I go back JB see in-laws, can go and come back by second link can zua, next day engine very smooth. The expressways here don't let you drive at high speeds. Orh ...machiam E65/66 Top right - gear shift bottom right - wiper Top left - signal bottom left - cruise control Now the cruise control they put at another small stalk on the left side (below the left main stalk). sometimes i want to use left turn signal light, accidentally can brush the cruise control, must be careful. merc280v6 6th Gear March 14, 2017 Share March 14, 2017 (edited) For signal stalk is on the left stalk, shift up to signal right, shift down to signal left. The left stalk also function as wiper. For gear shift, is on the right stalk, shift up to reverse, shift to center for neutral, shift down to drive mode. Now, what happens when a Jap car convert drives a new Merc and shifts the right stalk up (to signal his intention to turn left ) but instead, inadvertently shifts gears from D to N to R!! Won't that be very dangerous, on the move? Edited March 14, 2017 by merc280v6

therock Supersonic March 14, 2017 Author Share March 14, 2017 In the same way a regular auto does not allow you to go past neutral to reverse, the Drive Stalk won't either.

Won't that be very dangerous, on the move? During my test drive last month, I deliberately changed gear on the go. Alerted SE before changing gear and he agreed. need to pass thru 'N' first. At this time, the car just glide. Can't speed up and the engine makes some noice when stepping on the accelerator pedal. Didn't try to further change to 'R' though. Hmm ... not a very good outcome! ðð¼ BroFour owners here have said they switched to neutral with no issues, and you choose to highlight what a newbie says during a test drive ?? Are you another LPPL who parks himself in QQ threads dissing their car? I hope not considering your nick.. As I said, even in an ordinary auto gearshift you can go to neutral but the car won't let you go directly to reverse. Same thing here. It's a fly by wire system, not a mechanical shifter. I am sure Mercedes has programmed that in. Ask your own rep first before you give the thumbs down bro. Otherwise you deserve a thumbs down for being alarmist. Its the same for all auto cars no? ?

As a fellow Merc owner, I don't know what are you worried about bro? How else will we correct it if we go into neutral I thank the Lord and the mods for the ignore function. As a fellow Merc owner, I don't know what are you worried about bro? How else will we correct it if we go into neutral I thank the Lord and the mods for the ignore function. Wonderful invention they should use in the UN.. world peace.. actually both me and my wife accidentally went into neutral on the move. I did it in a car park so my recovery is easy, I just brake while I am neutral to a complete stop. Then engage the gear and move off. My wife did it on the road and she had to engage the drive while the car was moving... If you google, there are people who says it is not good to engage drive while the car is moving and everyone says it is perfectly fine to go into neutral while moving. The main reason is that the rpm of your engine might not match the speed of your car if you hit drive on the move.... So ideally, if you hit neutral accidentally, no damage done. It is probably best to brake and stop while in neutral if you can do it safely. Edited March 15, 2017 by Wind30 ↡ Advertisement
