Responsive throttle, handling is pretty good, grips r firm, enough for day to day drive (2L test driven). Although it feels a little floaty at times. Not bad for a Kia...

Did you manage to test drive the 3.3L GT?

One good step is to drastically improve the interior design and quality. Still really can't touch contis in tat aspect for now. Regardless, still really a good driver's car (u need to test drive it to realize this).

Depends on which conti, to be fair.

My personal ranking of the interiors for the entry Conti/Japanese sedans would be as follows (haven't tested Lexus):-

Top tier

A4 (VC, solid materials, lots of subtle touches)

C-class (solid coherent design, though a bit plasticky in some places)

3 series (old familiar design, a touch boring but solid)

Mid tier

Stinger (Good material quality but missing a bit on the design coherence and the small luxury touches)

Q50 (good materials, excellent seats, but dated design)

Arteon (Nice design, great electronics, but very plasticky)

Subpar

XE (Very plasticky and simple. Not befitting of a Jaguar badge)

Dunno about if Stinger is considered mid tier. Saw the Carwow youtube review on the Stinger, was surprised how bad the fitting quality was.

The FULL review is one of the worst done by Matt. If you look at the comments section you would know why. He compared a base model A5 Sportback to that of a fully spec Stinger. It was bias from the start to finish.

Hyundai-Kia has hired a number of automotive superstars, in addition to Peter Schreyer and Albert Biermann.

Luc Donckerwolke - former head of design at Lamborghini, Bentley (Lamborghini Murcielago was under his watch)

Manfred Fitzgerald - former brand and design director at Lamborghini

Sangyup Lee - former Bentley's exterior designer

Pierre Leclercq - former brand design chief of BMW

Will be interesting to watch this group over the next few years.

Looks like poaching Albert Biermann, the head of BMW M Division, is already paying off. They've already stolen BMW's steering feel :

Someone at BMW should ask Kia how to tune steering. The Stinger’s electrically assisted system offers linear response and plenty of feedback and feel. At higher speeds the Stinger takes a stern set. It’s calm and cool even as it’s hitting the top-speed limiter at 132 mph. Its large four-wheel disc brakes—the front rotors are 12.6 inches and the rears measure 12.4 inches—are easy to modulate and resist fade when you’re hammering the Stinger down a fast and tight mountain road. At the track, it came to a halt from 70 mph in 182 feet.

I've seen most of Mat's videos dating to before Carwow. He's pretty entertaining, but he's definitely got a Euro bias.

Euro vs Euro, he's decently objective but as pointed out, this video wasn't one of his prouder moments, per the comments section.

I prefer Alex on Autos for objective reviews (less entertaining, and a bit long but very good), Caradvice for comparisons and Motor Trend for performance reviews.

I largely agree with you, especially on the yucky XE interior.

Except I would put 3 series inside mid-tier. The current interior is really CMI compared to the new A4/C-class.

Each reviewer always has his own hidden agenda. Is he paid? We never know

Agree with 3 series... One would expect better quality for its price point.

As mentioned in my test drive comments, really good driver's car. Would expect better quality interior and seat comfort (just dun feel firm and plushy enuff). Not taking into consideration from those youtube reviews, just a personal opinion after a try on it.

Isn't the BMW the most expensive of the lot? Interesting to note that it's interior is the worst of the German Big 3...

The heart and soul of the 3 Series is its driving dynamics and not it's interior and built quality. It does have an edge over the A4 in handling and responsiveness on the road.

BMW 's interior is more driver focus, things are straight to the point and intuitive. Sit and drive one you will know the feeling. For me, Merc has the best looking interior among these 3.
