Means, map updates free for 1st year.

Oh ic.. then no problem.. I don't mind using old map .. as long as GPS still working foc.

 

Curious how much usually for GPS map update?

It's confirmed a Pioneer head unit.

 

Navigation includes SG and MY maps free for 1st year. But I won't be using it after 1st year. Got my GPS from my phone. It's anytime better then those embedded GPS navigation systems.

 

Don't know what media formats (FLAC, WAV, OGG , MP3, etc) it can take. Was hoping it can playback those lossless audio formats...And not junk lossy formats like MP3. I've got sensitive hearing.

 

The set also has a DVD player hidden behind the screen.

 

Included, also a USB port on the right of the screen, behind a cover. Don't know if this port can be used for charging phones. But definitely can read from a USB thumb drive.

 

As for speakers, they are factory fitted - think they called it paper speakers.

I don't think HU is Pioneer.

Someone posted the Luxury model pictures few pages away.

It show Toyota. I was told this is the xx16 toyota model which is the latest one. The previous model is xx14 use in Alphard.

Toyota don't make head units. They usually get from Pioneer and stamp the "Toyota" brand on it.

 

Anyway, my SE confirmed to me that the head unit is Pioneer.

I asked my SE about the charges for updates. But she said they are still waiting for service side to advise.

 

Anyway, if it's outdated, that I'll just use my phone apps for the GPS.

updates are usually not cheap. 1-2K like that.. not worth it most of the time. Just buy a phone holder and use google map on phone

The road direction etc. wont change so frequently one la... Even outdated still can be used

Agree, I only updated my GPS map when MCE was open for traffic.

That's right. G map is also free. And who don't like free things. :)

 

If I need to drive to boleh land, then there are free apps with free maps that you can download to your phone. No data plans needed, just access to GPS satellites.

Google maps also got offline maps. Can download and store in your phone.

I wonder how long it will take those car dealers to realize that this deal is not going to work and make it obsolete or they can make it free to compete. It has been a long time already.

It's better to have Carplay than free GPS updates.. these will stop, and then you have to pay for the next update..

Given how often M'sian roads change course, the built in module will be obsolete soon..

Just look see look see lor. If someone wants my car at the minimum lost I can consider to take turbo Harrier up.

 

But I think I am gonna be stuck to this for a while.

If you are use to driving a sedan, the SUV may not be something you will enjoy. I have been driving my wife's NX this week as she is overseas, I have to say the high driving position is comfortable but the handling is really lousy. Make sure to test drive on roads with lots of humps, you will realise SUV handles differently.

So Harrier Turbo will strictly be Five seaters?

 

Any truth to the rumor there will also be a 7-seaters model?

 

I have not seen any of the PI has advertised for this Turbo Harrier yet.

No data plan can work? I doubt so. I used to go north often and realize if you don't have a fast internet, your phone GPS is super laggy, practically useless.. it gives swift and accurate response only with fast internet...

Yes, been using the app call "Mapfactor GPS Navigation Maps" with free open maps for years to drive around Melaka. No problems at all.

 

Have tried downloading Google offline map before. Find it's not so detailed when downloading a larger area. Good for small area only.

Is it..?? Let me explore this .. I have been using the phone Google map and always cannot use without internet... Thanks for sharing bro~
