Problem with thermal receipt issued

Thermal Receipt issued at Tangs

Usually thermal receipt issued by merchants has a short life span on the texts printed with thermal paper and after that the words will disappear when stored and sometimes can be viewed by UV light. Usually when I have this type of receipt with big value, will make a copy of it either by scan or copier.

I was caught just last week when sent an appliance for repair and counter do not accept my blank receipt except the Tangs in bold is still intact. Warranty card has the stamp but not the date. Lady has to follow the book and told me to retrieve the receipt and come back!

waa the prints disappear after one week only... what kind of receipt quality is this...

he didn't say it disappeared after 1 week...

anyway, it is indeed possible for it to fade away after just 1 day or less if you expose it to heat or friction.

hmm if everything kept properly then should not fade so fast... maybe some friction from moving the packaging around.

I always make it a point to make a photocopy (laser MFC Printer) of the original thermal paper receipts if I want to file  them for warranty purpose (1-3 yrs).

It will fade out in about a week.

This is nothing new. Bus tickets has been using thermal printing for a few years.

Collecting bus tickets becomes "worthless" since then.

The paper quality of the this thermal reciepts is just like fax paper in the old days; After a few months the paper turn yellow/beige and the print turn to like light brown; Had a  hard time looking at quotations which were like less than 3-4 months old ; 'cos many companies started cheating or "alibaba"  bringing in cheap rolls from dont know which countries; Anyway nowadays thermal fax machines are not so common and using laser printers

Even petrol stations all use this kind of thermal papers too; Can't see the bill amount after like 3-4 months

But you would still be having your Credit Card monthly bill which would detail the amount (hopefully it was a stand alone item in the reciept) then maybe you can show them the Bill to maybe match the amount and Vendor name would be there too

Quality of all products dropping like hell badly

Is it paid by credit card? Go find the monthly statement or internet banking to do a printout. Worse come to worse call CC company to send you the statement again.

Install MS Office lens, OneNote on your phones. Set it to scan and save to not only photo gallery, but also a "notebook" with a section called "Receipts". [laugh] All receipts in one single place, backed up to the cloud.

When in need, just press "Print" and print out from your office printer. Costs you almost zero for most people.

if it is a branded appliance, should be able to register warranty online, some time the department store say no need but it is easier just to register with all the details online and save the trouble of keeping those documents.

Juz take a photo with ur phone.

The other option if u use drop box app is to use the "scan document" function to take a photo with it and u have archived urself an online copy which wouldn't fade.
