We talk about them... They also talk about us.

But the vast majority of prc I met or worked with here are just regular folks trying to survive like us. It's very unlikely can fully blend within a generation.

“The US is no longer prepared to underwrite the global order. This makes the international environment far less orderly and predictable,” he said.

“Singapore, like all other countries, must adapt to this new reality, even as we seek to maintain our strong ties and friendship with the US.”

These statements... esp LHL one.. Should make it clear the nature of Singapore (most of SEA really) macro relationship with the US and China. No one is gonna mourn if Xi decides to back off world affairs.

As even PRCs say .. 反美是工作 留美是生活.

While the likes of the infamous Happyman is unusual,.. he unbelivably posted a link to get people to sign petition supporting China's SCS position 🤦‍♂️

One can kpkb about the US, but the past decades have been very good for Singapore and this region.... unless one thinks Russia or China leadership would be a better Alternative.

If the US is seen to back off here in this region, the chances of a hot Pacific conflict would actually rise dramatically.... perhaps it's unavoidable.

China's Starlink.  For comparison, Starlink currently has 7052 operational satellites in orbit according to Copilot.

SpaceSail launched its first 18 satellites for LEO connectivity on 6 August 2024. By January 2025, it had 72 satellites in orbit.

China Central Television has reported that the company plans to have 648 satellites in orbit by 2025 and 1,296 in total by the end of the constellation’s first phase rollout.

This is expected to increase to 15,000 satellites by 2030.

The reusable nature of space x rockets would greatly accelerate the rollout. But now that space x has done it (proof of concept).

Pretty sure the Europeans and Chinese are trying to copy it.

So while Elon is making space x do stuff like try to get to mars. The competition is just want to get more satellite internet business.

Just like how's there's glonass, beidou and GPS. The Chinese and Europeans are now motivated to have their own systems.

Satellites comes in all sizes.

Maybe 15,000 small ones?

This is a country that has more nuclear reactors in the pipeline than the rest of the world combined.

Building the satellites is actually the easy part. You think building unmanned drone supercarriers is easier?

Starlink satellites are also small volume based simple satellites.

https://www.starlink.com/technology

Its the cost and speed of getting them up to space.
