Coolant 3rd Gear August 20, 2018 Share August 20, 2018 (edited) There's no pt talking abt the i30 fastback becas few mths ago I checked of KMC. They say confirm wont bring this in to Spore becas it will affect the Elantra sales definitely. actually the i30 fastback is already available for private preview at KMC.. its currently still undergoing LTA homologation so can only view by appointment. just ask your SE to arrange. i happened to be there last weekend, and my SE brought me to a special area to see the new Tucson and Santa Fe, managed to see the i30 fastback too.. nice design, sort of like a 4 door coupe. it's price is higher than the hatch and wagon version though, if i remember my SE mentioned they are now taking in pre-bookings at $123,999.. mainly because it is spec up with more equipment features, and oddly somehow it got hit with the $10k surcharge too (no idea why it kena surcharge.. but hatch and wagon maintain neutral band?). anyways seems already have people started pre-booking, so i guess we'll see those new fastback owners popping up soon, maybe it's time to start new fastback owners thread? :) Edited August 20, 2018 by Coolant ↡ Advertisement

Even 1.6L turbo Kona is priced less than this. Btw, did you look at the new Tucson? Got price for that? Where is the “special” area?

Kar_lover Supercharged August 21, 2018 Share August 21, 2018 Typical Singaporean willing to pay over $150k for a conti and not willing to pay more than $100k for a kor. Don't think that's the issue at all. $150k for stinger anytime. $110k to $120k for 1.6T SUV also ok. Issue is the first i30 HB & Wagon is from $90+k up to about $100k. So for the SB to jump up to 124k is quite ridiculous since the car is essentially the same.

Dinkydong 3rd Gear August 21, 2018 Share August 21, 2018 The reason why the FB is significantly more expensive than the HB and wagon is due to its equipment level (hence its OMV) and the $10K VES surcharge.

Where is the âspecialâ area? the new cars were previewed at their 3rd floor area, have to ask your SE to bring you up to see them. the new Tucson 1.6T i saw was pre-booking price at $117,999 and the S version (with additional fancy features) was $122,999.. new exterior and interior looks cool, more power and space too. i guess those who buy the fastback do so because they simply like the coupe design (liking a design tends to override all other price and practical decisions).. my take is they are positioning the fastback as a "flagship" niche model in the i30 range, so that people will see it and do comparisons, then eventually buy the hatch or wagon instead. after all, part of the reason why the hatch and wagon models are selling so well was because they were priced at the magic $90k-$100k range, so those versions will still continue to be the popular volume sellers. Kar_lover Supercharged August 21, 2018 Share August 21, 2018 bro, bottom line is the brand matter. I am not going to pay $150k for a kor sedan. Yep that's you, not me. Which is fine. But the way you replied my earlier post seems like u are assuming i am the "typical Singaporean" that won't pay more than $100k for Korean car to which i am clarifying that i am not. I agree brand matters but it is not the only thing that matters. ↡ Advertisement
