It’s funny that people don’t realize that you still pay more upfront for an EV.

EV is upfront pay. This is suitable for ppl who clock mileage more than 20k km/annum.

ICE is pay as you use. This is suitable for ppl who clock lower mileage.

Diff car for diff ppl.

It is undeniable that Honda E damn cute

Even with more than 20k it is still more.

People that think EV save money reminds me of the monkey not happy with 3 bananas for breakfast and 4 for dinner going on strike

and only happy when he got his way!

4 bananas for breakfast and 3 for dinner.

:D

In this case 4 for breakfast and 2 for dinner.

Till today 2022 people just look at upfront cost and don't understand the concept of total cost.

seems like for the lower to mid end, the EVs are more ex. but when you go to GLC and S-class range, the EVs present much more value in terms of horsepower per dollar.

The cost of the car can be calculated but the electricity will be the variable cost.

Either cost of electricity at the charging station times mileage

or for those lucky enough to stay at landed then its the plan they sign up.

I still on 16 cents but when contract end then its like 30 cents times mileage.

Its frightening that cost of electricity can double.

But to be fair cost of petrol can also double like now.

:D

Unless you are comparing against Hybrid.

For ICE vs EV same hp comparison, the breakeven is about 20k km

I cannot afford to stay in landed and no charging stations near me so I no chance to change to electric car.

Anyway I always drive MIL to MY and range maybe a problem.

I don't want to run out of juice halfway up Genting.

At least run out at Genting can charge and got things to do.

I beg to differ.

Like another bro mention, the breakeven is definitely 20k km.

I have not really go into the detailed calculation but i'm sure the figure we are looking at should be at least 40k km.

And we are talking about breakeven.
Meaning u will get the incentive right after the breakeven point (not forgetting the upfront interest you have paid + the additional wear & tear parts to be replaced in order for the owner hit the breakeven point + many uncertainties of the new technology - how long can the battery last before u need to replace them, this may push the breakeven point even higher)

May not be applicable for some EV but for Tesla type of performance, upfront is lower than its ICE equivalent. The saving from running cost is just a bonus. But you need to be able to tahan the ugly design.

I actually find MY immigration officers friendly, generally.

The very strict and stern ones can be found in Australia and USA. They act like they are GOD.

I went through these calculation numerous times in MCF.

Petrol Cost + Road Tax vs Electric charge + Road Tax.

Not forgetting that EV 1st service should be around 40k km.

For battery, degradation will start around 100k MILES.

There is no incentive from govt unless you buy Tesla.

What's the govt's incentive when you buy Tesla?

Govt incentive of $45k is a rebate against ARF.

Other than Tesla, all other EV is “non-existent”
