wear it once every few weeks is good practice.  

a good watch which uses top quality oils  will be fine even with months not moving.

Cycle them and wear if you can. However, I have some rollies  that I never wear for  6 months or more  and they always work fine whenever I wear them again. 

I would suggest not to use a watch winder. A watch is designed to be worn on the wrist,  where turns are random but natural.  I have never seen a human wrist that keep turning every second in circle for hours..  I won't put an  item on things that it is  not designed for.
