The electronic cluster does not look gimmicky as compared to some German makes.

To have an idea of its internal side:

CH-R

Internal Dimensions: 1,800mm (L) x 1,455mm (W) x 1,210mm (H) x 140mm (Ground Clearance)

RAV4

Internal Dimensions: 1,890mm (L) x 1,515mm (W) x 1,230mm (H) x 195mm (Ground Clearance)

Unfortunately the width of Yaris Cross is narrower, otherwise the dimensions seem ok n I esp like the 170mm ground clearance

actually it is a baby RAV4. It is more gorgeous looking in fact. I just hope it will be popular here like vezel, so the price will be competitive.

If PI sells this and Borneo brings in the Thai version then I will say good luck to AD unless they price it close to PI.

That said, Borneo threw an ace card when they came out with Harrier turbo to kill the PI Harrier NA and again with CHR turbo to fight with the Hybrid CHR PI brought in so will they throw another spanner in the works?

why not? BM is here to make a profit. If the new lady boss is really smart, she should see it coming and come out with a Singapore version and price it around other crossover like Kia Stonic. I tell you, it will be sellling really like hot cakes.

I hope u r right! Frankly, depends on whether BM wants to sell in volume by putting more cars on the road with smaller margins or less cars with higher margins.

The problem with the former is that workshop infrastructure needs to be beefed up which means more $ output. I’m not sure if this is what BM wants to achieve although pride of being the no. 1 AD n pressure from principal for numbers may mean otherwise. We shall see.

just some estimated pricing

Raize XS is 82k with 1745000yen.

So for a Yaris Cross X with 1896000yen i would think it will be 95k

Seriously I don't know which joker started the nonsense of Thai built Yaris Cross. The so called Yaris Cross sold in Thailand is just a variant of the outgoing Yaris model for ASEAN market, or to be more precise, a standard Yaris (hatchback version of Vios) with a 35,000 Baht "off-road looking" accessories package which comes with SUV-like cladding, black side mirrors, skirting & roof, larger wheels (16" vs 15" on standard Yaris) and taller suspension (by 30mm).

For those that cannot visualize what I am trying to say, it is just like Honda Fit Crosstar to Honda Fit, VW Touran Cross to VW Touran, whereby the cross variant share the same outlook and mechanism with the standard model, but with SUV styled accessories added (plus a minimal increase in ride height). So for goodness sake, please stop all the discussions and speculations about Thai built Yaris Cross.

This topic is about a Brand New Compact SUV / Crossover basing on the new TNGA-B platform. And this is how the top of line variant look like in Japan.

Yaris Cross is running on Dynamic Force engine. Without sufficient volume, would BM want to invest in its tooling? Sufficient volume includes same engine over different model.

BM is just an AD. TMAP is importer of Toyota car. Does this model fall into its product pipeline in this market as well as ASEAN? With Toyota pushing hard Corolla Cross hard in ASEAN Market, I believe Yaris Cross will stuck with PI.

Despite Corolla Cross higher price tag, it is still bigger than Yaris Cross.

Thks bro for the clarification! I was indeed confused with this Thai made v Jap made and with the Corolla Cross also being introduced, muddied waters indeed! I'm interested in Crossovers/SUV so on the lookout n obviously Toyota will always be considered based on their excellent track record. Anyway, there is a gap in the Toyota line-up for lower end Crossover/SUV which Honda has filled with their Vezel/HRV and so Borneo needs to fill this up soon. CHR is too pricey and niche to fill this gap.

Fair point on Yaris Cross but if BM only brings in Corolla Cross, it may not be able to fight with Vezel/HRV as I expect pricing to be higher esp with 1.8l engine. This is BM's chance to penetrate lower Crossover/SUV segment locally but u r right that TMAP calls the shots so BM will have no choice but to comply even if they want to bring in Yaris Cross so looks like PI or nothing for Yaris Cross.

If BM wants to stay up to date, it has to invest. Yaris Cross represents the future. Indeed there is a missing link for small cross over for Toyota. How can the No 1 car brand in the world waiting on the sideline see others feasting on this segment. Then why would they want to start this Yaris cross brands in the first place and build to European standard. The factory in France will be making the same car for their market.   Economy is bad, all the car makers have one goal only - sell more!

Even if BM hands is tied up, the our PI won't miss this opportunity. i am sure some of PI already put this in their pipeline already. You should see it before CNY.

Currently, Toyota volume driver are Corolla and Vios.  Both are running on ZR and NZ series engine.

If Yaris Cross can't sell as much as either of the model, what's the point to invest in MZ series engine?

Currently, the entire BM line is running on that old engine platform other than Camry 2.5L?

What if TMAP has no plan to introduce MZ series until 5 years later?  This model will be the odd ball running around in WS.

On the other hand, most of the major market has moved to MZ series engine.

ah? CHR and Yaris Cross can't compare. Different class....

U r right can't compare but in the absence of a small Crossover in the Toyota line-up, quite inevitable to compare and that's why i keep saying BM shld bring this car in as there is a gap in their car model line up. I don't see Corolla Cross filling it but as bro inline6 mentioned all down to TMAP.

Almost all the major car ADs have a small Crossover. Stonic, Vezel/HRV, Eclipse Cross, Venue, Kicks, Cx3 etc

just got the price...1.5 petrol is $86.800

                                  1.5 hybrid is $99.800

Quite reasonable. Price are close to bread and butter cars. Highly doubt the 1.8 Corolla Cross will come at this pricing.

yes...the prices i gotten are from PI, not Borneo  .

so let's see if they will counter measure with the price or simply don't  and bring the  corolla cross to sell it lower

First mover may price the car higher so best to wait for other PIs to see the level. Toyota's chance to gain back their no. 1 spot overall if this car sells well.
