For those who read recently on my experience on my dad medical evacuation, just to share my experience when come to these subscription package.

I on Zero1 as my main line and Eight as a sub-line..

Zero1 no IDD call... Eight Got.. however Zero1 allow overseas to call in unless you choose not to receive.

Alot of emergency number still need a normal phone call.. so for this Eight is helpful..

Zero1 no IDD call? Means need to subscribe for the service? Or they do not provide such service?

Oh no! the Lion King swallowing M1!

Hope my 12 dollar plan continues to be available after they gain more market share.

Maybe too much bandwidth for lion king to swallow. Price drop 50% to 6 dollah....?

Simba also $5

Cpf cease SA and transfer to RA(retired) at 55.

Hope telco can do likewise lower the senior plan age to 50?55?😁

In a few year times I can swap all phone lines to senior plan.

Sigh! All these consolidations and mergers mean no more price war.
😞

MVNO already dirt cheap, how low you do you expect it to go?

I travel very frequently. Am overseas at least 4 times a month.

IMHO, the best (cheap) sim only service for frequent travellers is Simba. It covers many countries. Don't need to worry if current plan will have coverage at a particular country or not. Even if travelling to countries not covered by Simba's Group A (eg : Russia, Africa, Maldives, etc), just pay a bit more for the data.
If the smallest $10 plan is insufficient, there are larger Simba plans to look at.
At Simba's pricing, really no horse run.
The downside is, Simba is sometimes unreliable for first time travel to the foreign country. Need to wait awhile for the network to log-on.

If looking for a more reliable multi-country roaming plan, then use M1 Enterprise.
Forget about those other telcos with free data for only 4 or 5 other countries.

After taking over M1, I hope Simba doesn't increase their prices. M1 is a money pit.

Simba was giving 'top-up $20, get another $20' promo during last few festive seasons.
Latest SG60 promo was only 'top-up $20, get $26'.
Was good while it lasted. 😁

Even if no more promo, I'm still grateful to Simba. They started the price war among telcos.  👍🏼

Think Eight had similar SG60 offer also, pay $68 for additional 3 mths free.

I'm on Zero1 and have IDD. Other operators need additional packages over their subscription but Z1 ibasically pay-as-go.

I meant the package does include IDD call.. where Eight got 288 mins for their base plan.

Just receive billing from Zero1.. the IDD call charges.. those UK charges (where the Air Ambulance based) is super..

This isn't IDD but is roaming calls.

IDD is purely from home country out. Roaming is a whole other topic and more often involves the country being called from, than to.

Roaming calls can be expensive as there are two, sometimes three networks taking their slice of pie.

Sure Z1 is not at the point of free international calling from third party country to another third party country, but few are. When traveling, Maxx has absolutely no function for calls at all, and only accepts incoming SMS, so for OTP for example.

You are right. Two years ago while at Portugal, my colleague bag was pickpocketed and we had a hard time contacting Singapore embassy and ICA as we had no ability to make land call. Fortunately i had my skype account, though junk, the best at that instance. Moving forward, i make sure i have VOIP app in my phone. Currently am using YOLLA which allows me to make call to mobile and landline directly.

Yes. This is so important.

So many people signed up for the free data roaming with the smaller carriers they forget about this.

I highlighted this in a post here before and the general response here was like "never mind, got whatsapp can already". Hello, you think you can whatsapp a government agency or police overseas during an emergency ah ?

Worse still, if there are any emergencies back in SG, authorities might not be able to reach you too.
