Nice meh? Looks like the Street fighter, Mortal kombat arcade game of our "uncle" generation! Control a character to fight various enemies with special key combinations. Ending with a "boss" villain which must be defeated to move on further beyond each stage. Same formula repeated ad infinitum. Just better graphics and the social element (interaction online with fellow players)

Enlighten me. I haven't been in touch with PC (or now all played on dedicated game consoles?) games almost 20 years already.

Eh uncle no play games for 20 years then it's hard to explain to you.

Sf and mc are fighting games. This is an adventure game and the basics are still the same as the good o Castlevania which you might play before but the gameplay is totally different. This game is described as "souls like". You can go read up what is a souls game before commenting, or go complete a souls game before making a stupid comment.

This game also uses unreal engine 5. The graphics might "look nice" to the general public but if you look into the technical aspect of this, it's a really a big step up. As a start, look at how the snow moves together with the character. Look at the water and how the environment interacts with the player.

Alot of these things I got to know from a friend working in ubisoft and got to appreciate how these things are generated.

996? I thought it is driven by the kiasuism of the Chinese?  Can we have 4 days workweek? 😂

China plans control of tech that US can only dream of

It wants to forbid practices that "encourage addiction", ban US IPOs and warns against "996" excessive-work culture

SAT, AUG 28, 2021 - 5:50 AM

 UPDATED SAT, AUG 28, 2021 - 5:50 AM

Internet companies including ByteDance and Kuaishou Technology have in recent months taken initial steps to dial down working hours. The two short-video giants, for their part, have cancelled an alternating system where employees take just one day off per week every two weeks.

Beijing

CHINESE regulators are seeking to implement far-reaching rules about the algorithms technology companies use to recommend videos and other content, claiming authority over Internet services that governments like the United States have struggled to regulate.

And in what will be another hit to China's tech sector, the government is also said to be framing rules to ban Internet companies whose data poses potential security risks from listing outside the country, including in the US.

The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) unveiled a 30-point draft proposal for "algorithm recommendation management regulations" that would directly affect companies including ByteDance, Tencent Holdings and Kuaishou Technology. The rules would forbid practices that "encourage addiction or high consumption", as well as any activities that endanger national security or disrupt social and economic order.

Algorithms have been at the heart of political controversies around the world. Facebook and Google have been accused of serving up news stories and videos that have exacerbated political polarisation and fuelled violence. In US Congressional hearings in March, the tech titans were accused of using their platforms to hook kids on services like YouTube and Instagram.

Eh... i know RPG lah. So it's like RPG but with the fighting done in SF/MK style, controlled by player rather than determined by probability/dice rolls. Maybe long time wean off games i don't understand the addictiveness other than a kind of escape from daily life stress.

996 is driven by the Chinese Culture to compete to get a better life. If you make $10 an hour and works 10 hours making $100, I will work 12 hours if I earns $9 an hour and make $108. Some will save on lunch, some will not pay to socialize and wherever they can cut corners to make competition. They do it.

There are also some other lots of other tricks like following the other colleague to resign and see if Company will take me back at a higher rate. Or coming back later. No doubt Singapore has gone thru this. But at that time, our Gov does push us to become more efficient. I wonder if CCP does that education or not as I do not see it.

I think most of the 996 employees are paid fixed salary, so however long they work, only the business owners benefits.

If the companies don't care about costs, they would have employ more people to do the job.

Or maybe they follow the Jipun culture, no one leaves before the boss, even when they have nothing to do.

That's also the thing lor, the 996 people are paid fixed salary and they got people working 996.

Many of those are asked to OT increasing the business owners are not benefitting cos those people who wants OT tend to slow down the direct workers speed. In fact companies are forced to get sub-contract workers at fixed rates and these rates keep going up too.

And you are right, people don't leave and surf internet. Of cos there are some pushed to work and work lah

Most of the fresh grad starts from very low pay.

Working in MNC could fetch RMB5k.

Working in local company confirm lower.

I am a bit ambivalent on the recent ban on private tutoring but I must give it to CCP for cracking down on online gaming. Calling it spiritual opium is quite appropriate. These games are designed to be addictive.

Some may say free choice but many of my friends with kids didn't think it is such a bad idea.

As a matter of fact, it could have just been well controlled if they have good housing at affordable rate, greater infrastructure spread out accordingly, then less issues.

One thing I don't get it is they also like to do squeeze into crowded places and the crowded becomes more crowded and the non-developed ones are there and not so developed. Meaning they can develop more remote areas to spread out the cost
