Gnahp Turbocharged March 4, 2022 Share March 4, 2022 I don't believe in engine flushing too, never do that to the cars that I owned, I even stop the dealer from doing it during warranty period I took some cylinder head photos of my ex car when I replaced the valve cover gaskets mileage was 140,000km when I took these photos I used the cheapo shell helix ultra bought from giant at $29.90 per 5L (some say it's fake oil) oil change intervals were every 7,500km or 10,000km or 15,000km depending on my mood you can see how clean are the parts under the valve cover, all are still in bright aluminuim colour close up photo of the cam lobes, the most prone to wear area amongst the parts in cylinder head, they are all smooth and shiny like mirror, no scoring no marks, the blue colour of the cam lobe surface is not due to overheating, it's the reflection of my old samsung phone 😁

Does it mean if done when the engine is "young", it's a recommended step to do, as part of the regular eo+filter change steps? Modern synthetic oils has made these snake oil products redundant but yet still got ppl fall for it. Lagi worse, AD upselling these. Kb27 Supersonic March 4, 2022 Share March 4, 2022 Most important is to change your engine oil regularly. The protective detergent/additive does wear out and then less protection for the engine. If you keep doing this, there's little chance of sludge forming. And no need for any flushing. A good working engine oil basically is flushing it all the time when the engine is running. Also the engine temp must be within operational temp, not too hot and not too cold, to prevent forming of sludge. For those who modified their engine or cooling system, without knowing what they are doing, then these kind of trouble is self-made. ↡ Advertisement
