Most important is to change your engine oil regularly.

The protective detergent/additive does wear out and then less protection for the engine.

If you keep doing this, there's little chance of sludge forming. And no need for any flushing. A good working engine oil basically is flushing it all the time when the engine is running.

Also the engine temp must be within operational temp, not too hot and not too cold, to prevent forming of sludge.

For those who modified their engine or cooling system, without knowing what they are doing, then these kind of trouble is self-made.

Exactly. Like those who remove thermostat or change to a low opening one when they don’t race.

I rather save my money and flush my automatic TC gearbox once every few years when change ATF oil. The constant shifting hundreds of times a day in urban SG sure to create some metal bits in the oil. Plus the ATF oil change interval is not as frequent as engine oil.

Not only engine oil.

All fluids should be changed regularly.

Brake fluid, gearbox oil, power steering oil.

And all the rubber belts and filters.

Also the tyres and brake pads.

:D

The funniest thing is people neglect to change all this but spent money on flushing the engine.

Shell helix is good la. All the fake news about it being bad must be perpetuated by local workshops who want you to use their own oil.

Same with SPC engine oil. Approved by Mercedes. Yet some would condemn it over Local branded OWS, which isn’t even on mercedes approved list.

Good marketing eh?
a local company trying to show that it is a german company. Product may come from germany, but I suspect it is just a blending or storage base in Germany.

100% disagree. OWS is not a german brand.

Go google. You will find that the website is in English.
they have a testing and certification by VICOM for fuel economy. Which self respecting German company will do that! Their TUV is anytime better and better equipped than simi vicom.
