This type of dark shade grey looks good on any car. Still quite surprise that a 2.5L car is struggling.

NA car w CVT feels 'relaxed' one

Try driving the ES250. U will wonder if some of the horses from the big 2.5L engine are on WFH...

Small lightweight turbos paired to efficient DCTs or ZFs are the way to go

Wah, 2.5l and not enough for you?

Here they are all 2l and no turbos... but somehow, I couldn't get as comfortable in the RAV4 as I could in the CX5 and Forrester..

Even the Tucson had a better sitting position. I tried an older Lexus and it was nice, but $$

The W246 has the best and most comfortable seat for me over long distances.. the Hyundai Elemental was nice too

he drives A6, GTI and turbodiesel.

2.5L NA to him is like 1.5L NA to us.

I saw it many times and it has a tad Aston / masarati design like for the front grill

sone say it’s more a Kia Sportage designed influenced

This car has Aston / masarati design like for the front grill? I find this car has the vezel feel design. 😅

Well if merc 1.4 is using the Nissan engine, what’s there to worry right?

We'll find out in a few years time.. it's a 1.3l Turbo, and if you recall the Nissan / Renault 1.2T, it had issues later on in life.

The older M274 engines made and designed by Merc themselves have been pretty rock solid..

Yeah new still ok. Test drove the GLB200 b4. Seemed brisk enough n doesn’t really feel underpowered for a 1.3L turbo

But u somehow can feel it’s a small engine lurking inside and it’s working very hard to haul all that mass around

Guess time will tell

No word from Kah so far...

But the new CRV should be in at the end of the year..

Just had a word with my previous Kah Motor rep, good man - Oey

No ZRV, but the new CRV will be a lot nicer and comes with six airbags standard... plus a petrol 1.5T engine.. so that should be interesting..

I've always wanted to own an SUV, with the commanding position, high hip point for entry and good boot size.

So I recently decided to take a walk around the showrooms, with a basic search and some requirements:

- five seats minimum, seven is a bonus, but basically a good size rather than a tiny one

- high hip point

- good boot size

- not too slow 0-100 (under 11)

- I'll need storage, good safety and things that a family with a young baby will appreciate

I don't speed, but sometimes you need a bit of zoom to join traffic and drive up Genting or overtake and I do go to M'sia often. That also means EVs are a bit more tricky

My mileage is low, 10-12k a year on average.

Now, my car isn't due for another 3 plus years, but I wanted to see what's out there and I'm just sharing my findings here and my choices are purely personal, as YMMV..

I didn't have a specific budget, but I soon realised that most of the choices hover around the 200k mark, and this is almost twice what they used to cost due to the COE.

Hybrids aren't my first choice due to my low mileage, and the cost of a battery replacement is a big deal, so even EVs are a bit tricky, but the number of petrol only cars are limited.

The EV motors are also not great for the Malaysia jaunts, and CVTs are less desirable than autos, but you have to be careful which DCT you choose..

Cheers

Coming with what timeline ? But since you have no urgency, it is worth wait and see.  COE price probably have limited upside already.

Yeah no hurry

year end it seems

by the time I really need to change some models may have their mid model refresh.. I’m keen to avoid hybrids unless the company covers the battery for ten years given my low mileage..

buying an EV also means range anxiety if I go Malaysia

I might pop into Skoda or Seat for a look see when I’m free haha

A few weeks back I also tried the new Nissan X trail hybrid version

Despite a cosseting seat, there was a bewildering cockpit layout, and the plastics were ok, better than the Honda CRV, but even the hard plastics in the RAV4 and Corolla Cross felt more solid. Not nice to touch, but built to last.

The use of the Renault 1.3l turbo to charge the EV part was also not inspiring.. and finally the cost was not cheap either..

I don't know if it's French or Jap now...

It's Frap now.

Any NA car paired w CVT juz makes a lot noise n little progress....lol

Haven't driven it but hv been hearing some good stuff abt the Tucson Hybrid. Even TG rated it highly

Kimchi car u often think, how did they pack so much in it for that price? Which is not what u can say for jap cars nowadays....

CVT should be paired with big CC engine for maximum enjoyment.

2.5L of the Rav4 still feel underpowered?

Low end torque is still weak.

north america hasnt launched the new CRV yet. So it's not going to be so fast.

Actually honda's best set up is now the 2L eHEV hybrid in the range topping civic. It feels exactly like a traditional gearbox but with hybrid economy and some lower end torque.
