This video came up this week on my YouTube feed and I was quite surprised about this clip whereby some student asked LKY about whether only Yale/Havard graduates can be ministers.

I discussed this with my GEP group chat and one of the objections I raised against LW was that his education background was not super good. A lot of my GEP classmates were against my views saying we should look at LW accomplishments in his career vs what/where he studied. I think the student proabably asked that question, thinking LKY will give a politically correct answer like, your education does not matter, you can do what you want in the future.... LKY said, forget about being a minister, be an MP.

There are two broad arguments on why LW can be PM in spite his average education results. 

1) Being PM is a leader and require more "leadership" skills vs analytical skills

2) LW is actually very smart and capable just that he is a late bloomer, not hardworking in school, etc, etc. 

Both of which I think is not solid arguments.

East Coast: 9.22%

Jalan Besar: 8.91%

Bishan-Toa Payoh: 8.8%

Pasir Ris-Changi: 8.4%

The highest absenteeism rate among SMCs are:

Mountbatten SMC: 12.2%

Bukit Gombak SMC: 9.92%

Radin Mas: 8.91%

Potong Pasir: 8.7%

Kebun Baru SMC: 8.57%

Marymount SMC: 8.56%

Queenstown: 8.45%

Reasons for the abstaining from voting could be varied, including not being in Singapore, family emergency, inconvenience, as well as political apathy.

National Average is around 6 - 7%.  It is marginally higher.

that's why my kids decide to travel n not go vote, when i say they will make pap vote lower, they reply 'how you know i will vote for them'

for listening. This brings me back to my point earlier. He wasn't interested in politics and dunno who to vote. Asked parents and they say vote for xxx. So naturally, people who are politically neutral will go for status quo. 

But I dunno who he vote ultimately.

My daughters asked us who we voting for on Friday evening, my wife said 投票是秘密的,  I said make your own decisions.  But we know all of us cross the PAP box.

ELD likely only have data on reasons why these group never vote, can't reveal social economic status 😅
