The battery of an EV, is just like the engine of an iCE car, is really not easy to spoil. But the rest of the car that fails can really cost a bomb to fix. 1-2k, 3-4K there… every year 1 or 2 times like that… it’s gonna add up.

The only difference is each AD can ownself decide how much to give you for your trade in......

Thats why when I bought, I went to one of the newer ones which I figured was more desperate, and it was true. I asked for waiver of the no loan 7k penalty at Alexandra they told me cannot/no way, but at one of the newer ones, they say sorry they not allowed to deviate officially by waiving the 7k, but I can add the waiver amount to your trade in car value.

Maybe trade in value might difference in those authorized dealers?!

Owned the car for almost 2 weeks and am averaging just under 13kWh/100km with about 80% city and 20% expressway driving. I’ve been in Eco mode throughout, and overtaking hasn’t been an issue at all. The car also feels more spacious, with ample head- and legroom compared to my previous ride, a B180

Is this efficiency based on the Atto 2? Is this reading from a fully loaded car or just yourself?

What is there to inspect? I also can do. Make sure the cables are connected well. Done. As if they will do any test on the charger.

@Mkl22 A Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) is the only legally certified Competent Person (CP) who can endorse the safe operation of electrical systems. LEWs work with electrical drawings, including Single-Line Diagrams (SLDs) to ensure accurate installation, protective device settings, and compliance with operating voltage restrictions.

An electrical installation needs to comply with regulatory standards set out in the Electricity Act, Singapore Standards (SS) and meet the specified requirements by government agencies - such Electrical Market Authority (EMA), SP Powergrid and others for the energisation, continuous use and powering of supply-related matters. This also includes any repairs and regular inspections of electrical installations ensuring it meets safety requirements. For example: earthing.

There are three different grades of LEWs, all are licensed and highly regulated to meet legal requirements. An LEW is required to stay updated on the latest regulations and industry standards in Singapore relevant to licensed electrical work. Believe for home charger installation a Grade 7 (up to 45kVA) is sufficient. 

How do you qualify as a LEW? You qualify as a Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) by possessing a National Institute of Technical Education (NITE) Certificate relevant to the electrical work an electrician is authorized to perform, such as a diploma majoring in installation from Singapore Polytechnic. Additionally, you must have at least 2 years of practical experience in Singapore relevant to the electrical work, an electrician is authorised to perform. You must also complete the Licensed Electrician Preparatory Course (Programme Code: EN032) conducted by the Singapore Institute of Power and Gas. Not so easy to be an LEW and for most - it's a full time job as an electrician. You're better off paying someone a small fee to do the bi-annual inspection of the charger.

How come you need to wait 2 months for the car delivery? Have you secure your COE? Heard BYD can deliver car within 1 month after COE secured.

Anyway, why you choose atto2? The range and charging power for this car is on the low side as compared to others EV around the same price range.

@Sukooo Booked at the end of Aug from ME and my SA managed to secure the COE in the first bid in Sept.

@13177 Aesthetically pleasing. Quite an easy decision for me considering the price (got at 161k) vs value that I can get. The short drive range doesn’t really bother me as a have quite a number of under-utilised EV charging lots below my block. On top of that, I’m also observing better range than the published WLTP. Most of the time is just to drop/pick kids from schools and then to office, so I would say is probably around 50% load? 

Best to find something that you like since you will be stuck with it for many years.

totally agree with you. Futhermore, other EVs with slightly lower price range doesnt really give me the security since they are not well established here. Who knows when they decide to close door and leave.

The design indeed quite pleasing, would be good if BYD brings in the higher version with longer range and bigger battery.

Quite a good deal to got it at 161k, no wonder easy decision. This car price now is 178k, increased so much siah! And it like become a bit overprice with such an EV.

Wonder will the range and DC charging power for an EV affect the resale price when you sell it later?

Other EVs lower price range with more features and spec, surely there are many out there if you compared atto 2 with the rest. Aion is one of the brand that i can think of which can compare with BYD.

Just curious, did you SA give you any freebies?

Test drive yesterday, overall nice basic practical car. What I like are, no sun roof, many controls still have physical knobs or buttons, doors with mechanical handles, good headroom and cabin space. 

Boot no auto mechanism, no blind spot warning, need to use Bluetooth to connect to screen are something they should improve on. $167,388 is something hard to chew given COE at around $105k. Freebies of so call $5k actually is about $2k. Understand this car is sold around $85k ringgit. The margin for AD is still quite high.

Guru out here, what is your forecast in the coming months? I think COE will soften. Wait or go for it? 😆
