The best management handbook I have ever read.

Everyone of his cartoons is based on a real life situation.

Nothing is made up.

It's real people stupidity reported by mostly call centre agents and also IT engineers troubling shooting clients problems.

And of course real life meetings where the management make stupid rules and say stupid things.

All real people saying and doing stupid things.

Adams has even joked that some strips required less exaggeration than people think because reality was already that strange.

If I was a uni professor teaching management Dilbert is a must read management handbook.

I am not sure any university teaching management use Dilbert.

But thats sad then no university is teaching what is wrong with management in real corporate life.

I teach manegment to staff and its so simple.

Everyday just do your PCC CP.

Planning - no one plans to fail but most managers fail to plan.

Most planning is weak, slopply and not realistic. A wish is also not a plan.

Communication - I always hear lousy managers say - Why nobody told me and I told my staff what, why they never do? Telling is not communicating. Intructions must be clear, must be understood and staff must know what to do.

Communication is not just 1 way top down, its should be bottoms up - bottoms up is my favourite amd side ways also my favourite and most managers don't know how to listen. They just hear what they want!

Coordination - that means everyone on the same page rowing the boat in the same direction not one rowing forward and one rowing backwards!

Control - know where company is wasting money, who is working, who is not, control just means is the company going in the right direction on schedule.

But since there is no plan with schedules, nothing to control because there is no plan. So most companies are out of control.

Personnel - recruitment most interviewers are idiots and let idiots into the company! jamesc first rule of personnel is Never let an idiot into the company. The problem is most people think they know how to interview like they know how to drive and know to f@#k and have great fashion sense and have a great sense of humour.

Honestly a lot of people don't!  I know I have no fashion sense because my wife tells me everyday and I do not have a sense of humour.

Letting idiots into a company no need to do the rest of good management like training and motivation and retention and productivity and bonus etc

Do you want to spend money to train and motivate an idiot and retain them and pay them a good bonus etc etc?

See management so simple hor and not boring.

:D

The Dilbert Principle has it

“If you can come to peace with the fact that you’re surrounded by idiots, you’ll realize that resistance is futile, your tension will dissipate, and you can sit back and have a good laugh at the expense of others,”

R. I. P. Scott Adams and long live Dilbert Principle 🙏😔😌

Signs of bad management is Never speak up to your superior or talk back!

Or he will punch you in the face. Many times like this captain to to FO!

No need to ask. I already booked MIL!

Catbert the evil HR resonated more with me. [laugh]

In real world, HR is NEVER on the side of the employees.

The purpose of HR is to protect the company from the employees.
