Must beware... if you cannot get your car after so many months of waiting ... there is probably something wrong with the company.  My suggestion is to quickly get refund and move on. Don't wait till the PI collapse and you get nothing back. BTW, do not get fooled by all the luxury cars displayed at the showroom. A lot of them are consignment and do not own by the PI.

Yes, it sounds like snowballing into another Volks Auto - hope the folks who tried to save some bucks by buying from unknown PI remember what "Volks Auto" was....

I wonder how can a PI ask for top-up after signing Sales agreement/contract with a price with 6 bids GUARANTEED COE.

 

Then one PI explained “6 bids guaranteed COE doesn’t mean Guaranteed delivery by 4th month because they can one month bid once or 2 months bid once for the customer”

 

His words enlightened me instantly.

Dishonest PIs continue to exist cos basically consumers are a cheapskate lot... they're attracted by impossibly low prices and hence fall into the too good to be true offers... for these PIs, they set a very low price in order o snare you to sign and then delay in bidding for COE or delivery so that you will top up and they earn the extras... some are just plain incompetent... miscalculation results in a botched business enterprise leading to customers left high and dry...

 

I'll never buy from a PI... it's just not worth the savings... not even if it's $20,000 savings... buying from ADs is already a painful process due to the COE system... don't need o make life more difficult than necessary.

 

Sometimes AD do not sell cars which PI has or AD has a lousier alternative.

Think Toyota Esquire/Noah, Rav4 Vs Harrier...

Buy from PI no need to compare price like who selling higher or who give more freebies etc .... Bottom line buy from PI is to Endure that the car must be delivered .... So only look for those Long enough in the market and don't be cheap skate look for cheapest one , what is the point unable to fufill the promise if you go for ah pig ah dog shop ?

In which case it would seem that the price difference is not worth your time and worry right? Cos both the ADs and the PIs have high operating costs... and the only way the PI can charge less is simply earn less... and so that means the difference isn't very attractive in terms of pricing...

I am personally think buy PI because AD never sell that particular model .... Otherwise , I still buy from AD .

Dear Fellow Forumer, I need some advise as to what is the best opinion to proceed with my unfortunate experience with a PI currently.

 

The chain of events as follows:

 

1. Put in deposit $ for new car and after waiting until the very last bid, PI finally secured the COE.

2. PI sales ask me to go to showroom to pay as the car I booked is in fact the car Available and VITAS certied by LTA. So there should be no waiting except for the 3 months wait on the COE.

3. As I'm not taking loan and paying in cash, the PI sales ask my wife to pay in full in view they will hand over the car ASAP, the following week and since my wife pays on a Friday.

4. After I return from oversea, I make a few calls to enquirer about status of collection of my car and it has delay after delay. After 2nd weeks of delay we went to the showroom and ask the sale agent what is the issue. She stated her boss partner is oversea this few days and they will be back the following week to register the car. So we ask for prove and noticed the VITAS certificate is under a different car company name.

5. On the 3rd week, we went back to collect the car base on the day committed, but there was no car and the sale agent went on leave for 1 week! I find something is ready wrong and call up the PI company that has my new Car VITAS register under their name. I uncover that my PI don't own the car and they couldn't pay the supplier(the other PI) so they will not be registering my car since my PI took my money and did not pay for my car!!!

6. We find the owner of the PI company and confront him. He says he has no $ & have use our $1xx K to roll his business! He says he has no $ to register my car nor pay me back.

 

I went to the police to file for a report and police says to wait for my complaints before deciding what to do?

 

Any kind soul can advice how on this world this is not a case police wouldn't take action?

 

So what should I do next? Write to PM office or engage a MP help?

Looks like not much chance of getting any money back. The company will probably just be winded up.

 

Worst case is the owner goes to jail but that does nothing for the return of your money. I hope you are financially sound cos it looks like a total write off case to me.

Hi Sg571958, u must be prepared for worst case scenario. This PI is unscrupulous and lawless. Suggest that u approach MP and write to PMO abd MTI and lodge a report with CASE. You may also wish to engage a lawyer if u are financially able to do so.

Can share with us the PI company and the name of the boss? So as to warn others and avoid any dealings with them..

They may repeat same tactic on other potential car buyers.
