what's the idle rpm and rpm at 100kmh ?

think u should have more torque at the low end, coupled with yr 421 extractor.

Have you done a compression test to see the results after this overhaul ?

idle rpm =>800-850rpm (airmax/capsule)

and rpm at 100kmh =>2500rpm

yaps, wif 421 is higher, my mech told me engine overhaul b4, using oversized piston..

compression test? don know? where to do? how much?

yoh ACE,

long time no see you at meetup sly.gifsly.gifsly.gif

the pressure that they measure should be in PSI lar, if BHP then you car will be at least 150 x 4 = 600 BHP liao laugh.giflaugh.giflaugh.gif

1) I'll go for top overhaul, looks like cylinder 2 & 4 are having their piston ring wearing off (normally the case for high mileage engine), if you intend to drive it for another 3 to 4 yrs wink.gifwink.gifwink.gif. Top overhaul shouldn't cost that much as $500 - $800 as your's is a inline engine so don't need to "drop" engine for a top overhaul job nod.gifPosted ImagePosted Image shouldn't be more than $400 IMO Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image unless it's a boxer engine (horizontal-oppose) than it'll cost at least $180 - $200 just to "drop" the engine alone Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

2) Complete overhaul will be good if you intend to drive it for another 5 yrs & above, should be max about $800~$900 for the job.Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

3) If it's same capacity as your current ride, shouldn't be a problem but still have to go thru' gahment, else you can do like what other's do Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

4) Do it now before it gets worst Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

5) Don't think this is an viable option for you Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Compression reading is in psi.11.7% difference in compression reading is acceptable. Get your mechanics to do a wet compression test to determine the compression leakage is via the rings or valves.

PS wet compression is carried out by pouring into the weak cylinder about a tablespoon of engine oil to improve ring sealing effect. If the reading is still the same then the valves are gone. If the reading goes up then the rings(and the piston cylinders ) are wear out.

Hope this helps

I learn something new today, thks nod.gifnod.gifnod.gifthumbsup.gifthumbsup.gifthumbsup.gif
