Hyundai owns Kia.

1. As much as Toyota owns Daihatsu.

2. Korean Govt seems to be protective over its auto industry. It will do the badge and car good if they allow foreign ownership in Hyundai and Kia.

3. I'm sure the forum master would not put the Chervolet logo in its Korean Talk Forum.

Hyundai owns Kia.

yupz but they work independently. thats why u can see kia uses mazda motor while hyundai uses mitsubishi. Also the car designer of kia is totally different from hyundai's. Thats why Kia car looks so much better than hyundai's.

the new kia car to replace the spectra is a good looker. waiting to test drive it when it reach sg shore ard june. [thumbsup]

You are right, Kia cars design so much better than Hyundai cos most designer for Kia cars are from Italy just that the new Spectra, designer are from Italy so the new name for Spectra is Cerato.

Interior will give you a feel of european and continental cos for Hyundai, they are targeting Asia market whereas Kia focus on the European, that is why you will see Kia cars in European market and US market as they need to meet their safety standards before they are allowed to enter their market.

So in terms of safety, I can say that Kia cars are better than Hyundai just like my Spectra, it is very solid and safe to protect me from accident.

chevrolet = daewoo ...

I current own a Deawoo Kalos a.k.a Chevy Aveo only for the 1.5 SOHC SE.

The 1.4 version of the Aveo is fitted with a totally different engine and a totally different feel to it.

The Chevy Optra is develope indipendently got to read up on the Optra but best if you bring it for a test drive then you'll know whether its a Deawoo or a Chevy.

I Guess you got a point subjectively on Deawoo = Chevy, but you can't really generalise it.smile.gif

Daewoo is now a manufacturing plant's name. IMHO, Daewoo does not equal to Chevy in anyway.

The funniest or rather contradicting part on safety is that they don't come with Airbags and ABS lately.

GM bot over Daewoo ... just a change in name ... [dizzy]

Perhaps the forum master should remove the Daewoo logo from this forum to avoid misunderstanding. As far as we know, Daewoo no longer exist as a car company.

anyone whom have driven a hyundai accent in australia will know that the accent is actually not bad...just that like what alot have say KMC have strip the accent in singapore....if I'm not wrong the accent in australia come with a 1.6 dohc engine...which seem quite powerful to move the car...
