The more electronics you have  on your car , the more power it consume.

Although these enhances features are NICE to have , it can also give you a lot of problems if the electronics is not reliable.

Just SIMPLY ENJOY THE RIDE.

The car by itself has already a lot of electronics built in...

Any idea what will happen if we accidentally pull the button for the electric parking brake while driving? Thanks.

If your foot is on the accelerator, it will keep going.

Neutral Newbie

Ordered a Vezel X and PI shown me the Bill Landing that the car is already at the custom, today he called saying that due to the rising Yen, the OMV is above $20,000 thus affecting the declared sale value (50% vs 60%) when processing loan.

Anybody encountered this? Thanks :)

Believe it or not?

Yes, for new cars, one of the portion for tax is on price paid for at  time of purchase in Japan.

From there, it is converted to SGD and decide on the OMV value.

OMV basically refer to the import price (including freight and insurance charges) and it will be used to compute custom duty, ARF & GST.

As the purchase (by dealer) is made in Jap Yen, it has to be converted to S$, using FOREX rate at the time of processing, thus the variation in OMV from time to time.

Once the OMV has been finalized and ARF levied, the scrap value will be fixed (at 50% of ARF paid).

Guys, can anyone enlighten me. When PI says 3 bid non guarantee COE does it mean he will bid thrice in a row? If 1 bid guaranteed coe does it mean he will bid in the next bid?

It is not just the extra bhp...but the tranny that is significant to the pick up.

What? How long have you been waiting? Got trade in or not?

I mean waiting for COE price to drop, this current ride to hit 6 mths and scrap this car. I booked in Apr last year, got coe at May, but only got ride end Nov.

Hellos Guys!

I owned a 2006 Mazda 3 1.6 Auto and it's due for scrap this coming May.

Basically need your great sages opinion. Well, here's what happened (prepare a wall of text)

I'm a Singaporean cheapo and one day decided to deviate from my regular car workshop (which I have used them for 4 over years) and decided to try a workshop a friend recommended - a budget (let's just say less than $60 for oil and filter change) servicing at a workshop at AMK Autopoint last month (January)

So come mid February, the car starts to get all erratic - first, the aircon got cut off and the car gets a little shaky. Then after that the coolant temperature starts to rise (I'm assuming the damage has been done) and immediately I shut off the engine and let it cool down, after that when driving again, everything seems to be back to normal.

So I thought that my a/c had some issues, maybe the a/c fan was not working - brought it to Mark Cool (I doubt I need to censor their name ya?) and got it checked, technician said aircon fan spinning, compressor and switch all ok, aircon nothing wrong, but noticed that my reservoir is dried up. He suspected that my engine may have overheated due to lack of water and asked me to go to my last workshop to seek for advice and at best, do a pressure test. He was kind enough to help me fill up the reservoir full and if the car temperature heats up again, to engage a tow truck this time.

So well, I went back to my regular workshop - the first time they did a pressure test and they could not detect the issue (probably due to highway driving) and tried to check for leaks but could not diagnose the issue. So the mechanic there then took it out for a test drive once more and when he came back, he noticed the bubbles are forming inside the coolant tank - everytime he accelerates, there will be bubbles foaming within the tank.

So my mechanic (at my regular workshop) then told me that since there's only 2 months left, if I can live with it, he gave me the following options:

1) Try to avoid city areas (where there are a lot of start-stop action) and drive till end of life

2) Scrap the car now, get the PARF + body

3) Repair and replace the entire Valve Cover Gasket, machine the cylinder heads and put it back in place. He will try to do it for under a $1k since I've regularly patronized him (he projected to be labour at around $400+ and the various parts factored in, will cost up to $800-ish). He kind of assured me that the car can last till scrap.

He then screwed me up and ask me why I'm being such a cheapo (as you guys may try to screw me again after reading this  [smash] ) and now even if with such a thing happening, it may be due to wear and tear and not the previous workshop's negligence.

So well, I'm stuck in a rut right now - am I able to push the buck back to the other workshop which did my servicing? And what options would you take for the vehicle?

TIA!
