My current mechanic, inform me that mazda spares are expensive and not easy to come by. He recommend that I buy Toyota or Nissan as spare part price are economical. Also skyactiv range engine are expensive to maintain.. Is it true ? I have not test drove the Mazda 5. But looks promising in test of review here. Need an MPV and comfortable 3 row. So far Kia Caren si the only car meet my budget and requirement. Like Nissan Xtrail but 3 row seats not comfy, fail my 2 kids comfort test.

I have been driving Mazda5 for almost 10 years and just scrapped 1 month ago. My old car was being exported as the car still in good driving condition.

I did not renew the COE as this is a 2 cc car which attracts higher road tax when more than 10 years.

Anyway I loved this Mazda5 as is easy to drive and good handling and can easily seat 7 people with enough leg room for everyone. I always sent my car to Mazda for servicing and I do not find the servicing or parts expensive. There is once the technical advisor helped me to repair instead of usual replaced.

I did not buy the new Mazda5 as is way above my budget and Mazda3 is not so spacious. Finally I chosen Nissan Sylphy due to the spacious cabin, head room and leg room. I do not bother about features though Mazda5 and Toyota Altis have got more features than Nissan.

I heard Nissan nowsaday will bulk spare parts and this has bring down the maintenance and replacement costs. Not sure about Toyota.

Cost aside, buying car is like choosing a business suit for myself. I would not drive something i feel awkward or uncomfortable to be seen in.

Hence, I have chosen M6 Wagon which i like the outlook and it is basically a Driver's car.

Due to the popularity of Mazda over the years, it helps to make the spares more affordable now. It could be slightly higher than Toyota but not exorbitantly high like the continental cars.

I have driven M6 (2004 model) for 9 years and it is a reliable car apart from wear and tear. So it did prompted me to buy the new M6 Wagon recently as well.

Thank you for the feedback, test drove the M5 and decide to get the test drive unit. Impressed with the interiors and the price is cheaper than KIA Caren. Good leg room for the 3rd rows.

Comin form a Nissan Latio will miss the keyless entry and start. but I think I can live with it.

The older Nissan Sylphy looks more sleek to me, current design look an upgrade from the latio, yes it is spacious, My latio elcantra seats last more than years !! Latio my first car and great one, hopefully M5 will last juz as long.

Congrats as the test drive unit for sure very good price. Before I booked Nissan I ever went in to see but all demo and test drive units being snapped up. Yes and M5 will last you for 10 years. Drive with careful especially over hump must brake and slow down. And also do not reverse back to close in as the exhaust pipe a bit low.

Congrats on your new ride bro! I do agree that certain aspects of the Mazda2 are impressive as compared to other Japanese makes. Honestly I drive a C180 so please do tell us why you feel it's more conti than it?

I have to say it's my fil remark. His bro drives e c180..

The styling of the m2 doorsare sloping down. Not the typical sstraight lines in most cars.

And the rear Windowsare sslightly slanted up. Giving a very classy look to the car body.

The hud is immensive.. The driver is not distracted by the gauges all over the place.

The aircon vents are very ddifferentin design as compared to the passe straight line slots which to me appear very ddate.. IIt's also very minimalisti. I like this fact that iit's very clean withlittle knobs. No clutter...

THereis a sport mode button to flick up of u need to revy machine and a commander knob is there to control the lcd screen. I tthinkk all conti have this knobs in e centre console.

The m2 has won many awards for its design in jJapan.

IIt's just my 2cents. I like the buildof the whole car. Even the doors are very solid. Closing them is very different ffrom typical jap cars... I'msurprised there aain'tmore on the road now..

Within the next few months will have more Mazdas on the roads. Heard that they took in the bulk of the frustrated Altis customers who couldn't secure their COE during the CNY promo.

I think the few differences that the Mazda lack is the electronic handbrake system and I don't think there's a "auto-hold" braking function? Please correct me if I'm wrong. In short, it's those electronic stuff la and also the rear aircon-vents, electronic seats.

But honestly, for that price range and for the existing features that the car has, no doubt a market leader for its sector and category of cars.

"auto-hold" braking function is hill assist? .. im not too sure too.. for me i changed from a lancer to this so its a very big improvement..

the istop & eloop features are very useful..

istop uses the braking power generated to recharge the battery.. eloop cuts the engine off while waiting stationery at the traffic lights..

i guess its like a conti feature? FC is stated to be 20km/L and also true no rear aircon vents, nor electronic seats. but the DRL LED lights are very impressive..

i will enjoy my daily drive and thats the most important thing too.. ferrying my family is an enjoyable experience too.. lol..

i saw many 2 and 3s ready for collection too today ..

The "auto-hold" braking function differs in various brands. For certain VW models, if you activate it, whenever you come to a complete stop the brake calipers will hold the car for you and you can let go your foot off the brake. For C180, you need to further depress the brake in order to activate the brake-hold function.

Hill assist is available in C180 as well but honestly bro, the changes in technology on the cars made now are so much more advanced and better as compared to cars we bought 10 years back.

The eloop function that you mentioned is present in most cars today, not only conti cars but I believe Korean and Japanese makes also have. Try out your FC for a couple of weeks and see how you fare but honestly it depends on how your daily drive is like and also how light-footed you are. I am doing 14.4km/l for my C180 or 7.1l per 100km and I think that's amazing FC already.

All things said, enjoy your ride bro! That's the most important liao! :a-good:[drivingcar]

It's the other way round....

Istop is auto stop-start, Mazda's version is supposed to be one of the fastest & least instrusive

I-eloop is the one that send braking energy to a capacitor (industry's first as the rest using battery)

If it doesn't work, get Mazda to measure your battery's residual capacity, it could have dropped to too low a level for i-stop to work. If it's still under warranty, they should change to a new battery for you.

not working for first a few mins only? If just the first a few mins, it's due to cold engine. when engine warms up, i-stop should work again.

But if it doesn't work even after a long driving, that means battery or i-stop system has problems. better send to check.

last possibility, she randomly turned i-stop off? :P
