  1. Circulating on whatsapp. Mindef better investigate this! Cannot post video here, wait tio ban
  2. Mitsubishi ASX with CVT (3 months) Got this problem in the mornings when engaging the reverse gear after the car is parked overnight on a level ground. It only happens when shifting from "P" to "R" where a loud sound (like something grinding or cracking) is heard and the car reverses normally. In "D" mode everything is normal and no noise is heard. Only happens like once or twice in a month, puzzling. Anyone knows if this is a serious problem?
  3. Recently got a Fiat and sometimes the gear cannot be engaged for unknown reasons. Anybody else facing this same problem?
  4. Encountering a screeching sound everytime I downshift to gear 3 at speeds above 50km/h. However, at speeds under 50km/h, when upshifting to accelerate, no sound. Sound only comes when changing gear at 50km/h or higher. Same sound as when didn't engage gear properly but release clutch. Gear can be engaged. Just got screeching sound thats all. Only gear 3, no other gears got this problem. Does this usually become a big problem quickly? Or do I have some time before the car becomes totally not safe to drive. Gonna get to WS asap if its urgent but will wait 2-4 weeks for parts from stockist if this problem can wait. Honestly I not too sure whether get from stockist and bring to WS will save money at all man... Ran a search on gearbox and no one seem to have open thread about similar symtoms before...
  5. Just now my car was on a downslope then I engaged e-brake and then changed to P gear cos I had to insert cashcard into the machine cos I drove too far from it. Then when I changed back to D, it gave this groaning sound. Why is this? Will it damage gearbox or something? Thanks
  6. Good Friday bros! A simple question which I'm not sure whether it has been addressed be4.. When approaching red light whilst your car is still moving, is it alright to engage the neutral gear until the car stops? Heard from one of my pal that it may dmg the gearbox? I am doing this rather regularly and is not sure whether there will be nay implications? We are assuming automatic transmission of cuz..
  7. Per subject, just wondering how much it will cost if a coy will to employ a FT vs a local if both have the similar education level, working experience. FT - salary - annual leave - medical leave - hospitalization leave - home leave - medical benefits - dental benefits - insurance coverage - foreign worker levy - income tax subsidy - relocation compensation - housing subsidy - children's education - airline tickets Local - salary - annual leave - medical leave - hospitalization leave - maternity/paternity leave - compassionate leave - medical benefits - dental benefits - insurance coverage - employer cpf contribution I am not sure whether these are comprehensive/accurate/overstated but they are the ones that I could think off hand. There are members here who have FTs in their employment, without prejudice perhaps, they can fill or remove those not applicable.
  8. I came across quite a number of car forums that actually discussed shifting/engaging gears with pressing the clutch! http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=555076 http://www.superhonda.com/forum/archive/in...p/t-110759.html http://www.f-body.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1913 http://www.yotor.org/wiki/en/ma/Manual%20t...20technique.htm These posts seem to suggest that shifting/engaging gears without pressing the clutch can be done...and if done right, cause no wear and tear on the gear box. If done wrong, you'd probably hear a grinding sound, which means that your gear box (tranny and synchro) is taking a beating). What I want to know is this (which is the reason why I went in search for this topic anyway) - the abovementioned threads talk about clutchless gear shifting while the car is in motion. In my case, I had accidentally engaged the gear without pressing the clutch when my car was stationary (in fact, the engine was switched off). Will this be detrimental to the gearbox? I ask this because I didn't even know I had accidentally engage the gear as there wasn't any grinding sound at all. I only realized I had engaged the gear when I turned on the ignition and the car jerked forward and stalled. Any expert opinion on this will be GREATLY appreciated.
